Entopia Penang Butterfly Farm To Enter Hibernation As Of 1st June 2021

It is not a secret that this COVID-19 pandemic has affected many negatively, including the tourism and travel industry since the very beginning of 2020. Yesterday, we have received another heartbreaking news. One of Penang’s famous attractions, Entopia Butterfly Farm has announced its closure as of 1st June 2021.

We believed many have stepped foot in this enchanting butterfly farm. Creating beautiful, long-lasting memories with your loved ones that will become the treasure of your life. However, aside from all the things shown at Entopia, do know how it started?

Established in 1986, Entopia has been operating for 35 years. It all started when a self-taught entomologist, David Goh expressed his interest in butterflies. His fervid passion inspired him to open the world’s first tropical butterfly and insect sanctuary as a tourist attraction in Penang.

Entopia is definitely the pride and joy of Penang. Besides being voted as one of the best destinations in Penang on TripAdvisor, Entopia garnered many awards at its prime time. More than 6 million local and international tourists visited this famous Penang Butterfly Farm over the years.

This large nature classroom and discovery hub has more than 150 species of fauna and over 200 species of flora. Within Entopia, where butterflies and insects are free to come out and play with visitors, lies two worlds. The outdoor garden called ‘The Natureland’ and ‘The Cocoon’ indoor discovery centre.

Entopia To Enter Hibernation As Of 1st June 2021

Sadly, Entopia has announced its temporary closure yesterday in their media release. It is official that this famous butterfly farm will “enter hibernation” from 1st June 2021 until 31st December 2021. However, as stated by Ralph Ellison in his novel entitled “Invisible Man”, “hibernation is a covert preparation for more overt action”. Hence, we can anticipate the comeback of this enchanting sanctuary in the near future!
