Malaysians to Receive Covid-19 Vaccine From Feb 26 & Here’s What You Need to Know

Malaysia is set to perform by far the largest vaccination exercise in effort to immunize the nation against Covid-19. That being said, the first batch of vaccine will arrive this Sunday, 21 February 2021. The vaccination program will begin from 26 February 2021. Our Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin will be among the first to receive the vaccine.

Covid-19 Vaccine Will Arrive This Sunday and Vaccination Will Start From 26 February 2021:

At the launch of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme handbook yesterday, Muhyiddin announced that the Pfizer-BioNtech vaccine will arrive in Malaysia on 21 February. Muhyiddin, along with 500,000 frontliners will be among the first to receive the vaccine.

The first phase of vaccinations is set from February to April. This is for the 500,000 frontliners who are directly involved in the fight against Covid-19. The second phase will roll out from April to August, which targets high-risk group. The third phase will happen from May to February 2022, involving those aged 18 and above.

While vaccination is voluntarily now, Muhyiddin mentioned if majority of the nation has taken the vaccine, it would then act as a health passport. Those who refuse inoculation could face restraints in moving around or engaging in businesses in the future.

So if you’re frontliner, you might be thinking where could you go to get vaccinated? Ministry of Health Malaysia (KKM) has set up 605 vaccine distribution points across the nation. Take a look at the map below:

How to Register for Covid-19 Vaccine in Malaysia:

Also, registration for Covid-19 vaccination will open to the public starting from 1 March 2021. Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said that there are 5 ways that the public could register. Online registration includes using the MySejahtera application and website.

As for manual registration, there are three ways. This includes calling the hotline (will be announced later), attending public and private health clinic facilities or through assistance programmes for residents in rural and remote areas.
