Growing up, we bet most of us have watched at least one of Studio Ghibli’s animations. From the famous My Neigbor Totoro to Howl’s Moving Castle, Ponyo and more, it’s hard to pick a favourite when they’re all so good. One thing we can all agree on, is that their meals in the movies look absolutely delicious! This artist, have created a series of local Indonesian food illustrations like maggie goreng, gado-gado and more that look like they came out from one of Studio Ghibli films!

Many have tried to recreate Studio Ghibli’s meals in real life and they’re a joy to watch. However, this Indonesian artist, Alfeus Christie decided to illustrate his own version of Studio Ghibli meals, with influence of his Indonesian background and culture.
Before we dive into these amazing food illustrations, let’s not “claim” any food here and start a war. Let food be enjoyable to anyone of any background.
Now look at these mouthwatering illustrations. From our favourite cendol and maggie goreng, to terang bulan, rendang, gado-gado and more, they look better than the food in real life!
The iconic biscuit tin that reminds us of our grandparents which you open to something else rather than biscuits. These illustrations do bring back good memories.
Kudos to this Indonesian artist, we bet those with similar background as him could relate more to these illustrations. They sure make you feel like there’s a piece of home even when you’re not in your home country.
