Foodie, we have news! Remember the recent closure of the famous Hong Kee Wan Thun Mee? The shop at Campbell Street has now been replaced with another traditional wanton mee shop called Tok Tok Mee Bamboo Noodle. We heard their menu remains the same, as well as the “kung fu” elements of the noodles.
Tok Tok Mee Bamboo Noodle Occupied The Previous Hong Kee Wan Thun Mee Shop:
Just a few weeks ago we wrote a piece on how the famous “Kung Fu Bamboo Noodles” has shut its door. Many, including us, were hoping that they will make a comeback, and guess what? Someone heard our comments!
Tok Tok Mee Bamboo Noodle, a new venture took over the shop and has just opened up its doors yesterday! What took us by surprise is the fact that the menu remains the same as the previous shop. They also offer the same handmade traditional bamboo-pressed wanton noodles. You’ll get to see them riding on a huge bamboo pole, pressing the noodles once again!
According to Tok Tok Mee Bamboo Noodle, they’re run by a group of young chap and is the only traditional bamboo noodle house in Penang. Apart from their signature bamboo pressed noodles, they also offer an array of stir-fry dishes and flaky pastries. Sounds familiar?
If you’re reminiscing the old taste, visit the place and try out their dishes. They’re currently running a promotion of RM2.20 for a bowl of their Char Siew Bamboo Noodle!
