Penang’s First Peacock Mini Zoo Is Expected To Complete By December

We’ve been seeing quite a bit of change in Penang for the past year. The government is taking huge initiatives to boost tourism. Like beautifying dark alleys in George Town, turning ferries into restaurants, museums soon, and more. Penang’s first peacock mini zoo, known as Peacock Eco Park in Prai will complete its construction by end of this year.

The RM300,000 project is a joint collaboration between Prai constituency service centre, MBSP and Mr D. Parantpaman, the owner of the peacocks. Once complete, the birdhouse will be home to plenty of peacocks of different species.

“Among the species are Indian metallic greenish-blue neck peacocks, the albino version of Indian peacocks and Javanese mix peacocks from Belgium, Pied and Black Shoulder peacocks from Spain,” he said.

MBSP councilor David Marshel said that the Peacock Eco Park will transform Prai as a tourist attraction on the mainland. There’ll also be a souvenir shop, mini cafe, and a pond with Victoria lilies within the premise. Admission is free once it’s open to the public.

“Hopefully, when it’s open soon, the public will know more about peacocks and appreciate it,” Parantpaman said.
