Hi there foodies! When it comes to the end of the year, there are several things to expect in Penang. One is the inevitable Monsoon season. While the other is the Nine Emperor Gods Festival that usually takes place from 1st till the 9th day of the ninth month in the lunar calendar. And in these 9 days, there will be festive stalls serving vegetarian fares. This year, things will be slightly different as no dine-ins are allowed.
Only Takeaways Allowed At This Year’s Nine Emperor Gods Festive Stalls
As we all know, many changes have begun taking place ever since the hit of the global pandemic. Wearing masks is now mandatory when we’re out in public and eateries would also have to abide strictly by the SOPs. Since the Nine Emperor Gods Festival is taking place soon, we have a piece of news for you guys to take note of.
According to the Penang Island City Council (MBPP), aside from restricting dine-ins at the festival stalls, these hawker stalls are to abide by some additional guidelines too. They are, these stalls must be 2 meters apart from one another, and patrons must have their temperature taken as well as register themselves via the MySejahtera app.
So, fellow foodies, do take note of this new guideline and always stay safe. Bye!
