The Alley, 5 Stewart Lane Penang Review

The Alley hides itself on a rather quiet street named Stewart Lane. Just about less than a minute walk from The Daily Dose Cafe, you would spot The Alley. This is a quaint cafe with uncommonly limited space but extremely comfortable interior setting. It’s definitely a good cafe to unwind. The coffee here is pretty well brewed and the churros here is heavenly delicious beyond words. I’d love to say The Alley serves the best churros in Penang!

The Alley isn’t exactly easily accessible, well fret not. Spot Kedai Gaharu Keat Seang & the bicycle!

The Alley sits happily next to Penang famous tourist spot: Kuan Im Teng (廣福宮/觀音亭).

INTERIOR

The Alley Cafe

The cafe’s space is rather small albeit it has a bigger table in the back room. Still, it is not recommended for group gathering. Speaking about the ambiance, it is pretty homey and simple, without any fancy elements. The fanciest decoration could be the wall-drawing (refer to the picture below). In addition, The Alley plays well with its music selection, indie pop and recent popular hits sometimes. You’ll also be greeted by its enthusiast baristas and staffs, I can totally feel their passion in coffee especially when they introduce coffee to us.

The menu here is limited, serving only snacks, cakes, churros, coffee and their latest seasonal offering, Chimichangas. We planned to get Chimichangas during our visit, but it was sold out, too bad. It’s advisable don’t come here with empty stomach, come here after lunch or dinner instead. Okay, the best churros in Penang is crispy on the outside, and spongy inside, perfect combination with salted caramel and Nutella sauce. It’s a hearty satisfying snack to make sure your tummy happy. We really love it.

We ordered Flat White, RM10 & Caramel Latte, RM12 it was really awesome and balanced.

IN SHORT

The Alley is a great place to chill out. Trust us, The Alley will amaze you with their superb churros and coffee. Do try their wide varieties of coffee, Pink Guava Frappe and cake, which is of course, all are Halal. But the seating is kind of limited, so do remember to plan your visit fittingly.
