Most Penangites will probably be familiar with this place but if you’re not, fret not. Chok Dee Thai serves Thai food that is suitable for the local’s taste buds. However, this place is slightly on the pricier side but you’re definitely get the quality that you’ve paid for. Moreover, spaces are limited here hence we recommend booking in advance to avoid any disappointment.

2. Thai Shop

Having a meal here will definitely give you the vibe of having a meal in Thailand. From the metal stools and wooden benches, it is pretty similar to the coffee shops in Thailand. Moreover, the people who run this business are Thai so you’re definitely getting authentic Thai street food. Besides that, the price here is quite reasonable. We recommend trying out their BBQ pork skewer.

However, Khun De has various branches in Penang and we’re currently talking about their branch in Gurney Paragon. This underrated restaurant is a place that you need to check out! They serve drool-worthy Thai dishes at an affordable price. As the name suggests, you should pair your meal with a Chang beer (if you’re of legal age, of course). Moreover, parking won’t be too much of a problem here which is a relief and good news for all the drivers out there.

Thóng Thai is quite a new spot in town. You will be spoilt for choices here with authentic Thai dishes such as Gaeng Som Fish, Pad See Eu, Green Curry, Bitter Gourd Omelette, and many more! Moreover, the owner-cum-chef who is preparing the dishes is equipped with 12 years plus of experience so you can imagine the quality of dishes that you’re having.

Moreover, the price that they are charging here is pretty reasonable and parking won’t be too much of an issue for you as well. So if you’re still wondering, wonder no more. With an affordable price, great service, and even better dishes there’s not much you can ask for when dining at Wang Thai. Some recommendations would be the pandan chicken, clay pot ‘tanghoon’ with prawns, and glutinous rice with mango.

10. Sebaidee Thai Restaurant

While this place may be on the pricier side, they do serve a wide range of pretty delicious Thai dishes. However, parking may be slightly a hassle but you can be sure that it is worth spending a little more time searching for one to dine here. Don’t forget to try their Triple Flavored Siakap Fish, Fried Chee Cheong Fun, and of course the ‘thapthim krop’.
