Tired of going to the same restaurant over and over again? Don’t worry because the food paradise has just blessed with another new place to feed our insatiable thirst for more good food! Situated at Gurney Drive, Coco Island offers a wide array of Southeast Asian Menu, including Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand and Indonesia cuisine. With just a few days of opening, Coco Island is hard not to notice as tables get occupied by hungry people of all kinds. This proves that their food is no joke, and they really aren’t! All you gotta do is step in and look for an empty table.

2. Rainbow Cafe

There’s always a rainbow after the rain and nothing beats a wonderfully made drinks. The newly opened Rainbow Cafe served Shaka Shaka’s drinks which are made with all fresh fruits. Such as strawberry, mango, banana, blueberry, kiwi and even mix-berries. Of course, they also serve other flavours like Chocolate, Matcha and Coffee. If you’re a fruits lover, give their Shaka Shaka fruit series drinks a try; their taste alongside its look gives a sense of satisfaction to our tummies and it’s so Instagrammable. Trust me, your feed will look so much cooler!

3. Urban Green Cabin Terrarium Enthusiast

Urban Green Cabin: a new cafe full of greeneries to chill with your buddies and get closer with nature! Their brand new space is absolutely welcoming, and not to mention Instagram-worthy with different types of trees that make perfect sense together. Nothing you had seen before, they promised. Their menu covers the basic grounds but it is done perfectly. Here, you can order coffee, tea, soda drinks and some pastry such as chocolate puff, beef bolognese pie, muffins and more! A must-try is their signature “Bob Marley” Fizzy Mocktail, once you take a sip, you can’t get enough of it!

4. Q Bistro Nasi Kandar

Q Bistro Nasi Kandar is a modern style mama’k restaurant and they just opened their first ever outlet in Penang outside Klang Valley! Set at Gurney Drive, home to one of Penang’s most popular tourist destinations, they bring all Malaysian’s favourite menu under one roof. Q Bistro serves a wide variety of amazing food. Here, you can find roti canai, nasi lemak, dim sum, nasi kandar and some western dishes. They are known for their signature Q Bistro Nasi Kandar, served with a selection of curries, and a range of side dishes such as fish roe, cubed beef or fried prawns. Sounds yummy to my tummy.

Over The Rainbow is one of the newest cafes in Penang. If you are looking for a spot to relax and good coffee, Over the Rainbow is the place to be. Serving coffee beans from Vietnam, medium-dark roasted locally, for their espresso-based beverages, they make one of the best coffee. Sit back, relax, and enjoy their brews with your friends at a cosy cafe. You will feel like home! Apart from coffee, a must-try is their warm Fudgy Brownie with vanilla ice cream on top! 6. Daboba

Your wait is now over: Daboba with its adorable bear icon is finally opening its door in Penang! While you’re there, no doubt you should try out their Honey Golden Pearl Green Milk Tea, a break from the usual brown sugar with fresh milk.

But if you’re an avid fan of brown sugar drinks and you swore by to try out all the brown sugar drinks you can get your hands on, by all means, try out their Roasted Brown Sugar! It’s truly something different from the usual Bubble Milk Tea or brown sugar milk tea, so rich in flavour that it leaves you wanting for more.

7. Yeye Hunan Restaurant

Yeye Hunan is another new restaurant which just opened at Gurney Drive. In fact, they take every detail seriously, from the delicious food and exceptional service, nothing is not worth mentioning. Overall, Yeye Hunan Restaurant Penang offers a classy, welcoming dining experience that would satisfy even the pickiest person. You have to give them a try because of their authentic Hunan cuisine that’s so good it’ll give you a run for your money.

8. Xing Fu Tang

Xing Fu Tang claimed to be the first store to serve original Taiwanese stir-fried brown sugar bubble milk tea in Malaysia — yes, you read that right. The pearls and brown sugar are ‘stir-fried’ in a wok-like pan until everything is combined, which is then added into the cup and milk tea goes on top. If it is your first time here, order yourself a Brown Sugar Pearl Milk. If you’re not a fan, some other options will include the cutest Bunny Jelly Mango Smoothie and Matcha Pearl Milk.
