First on our list is Buns & Bowl. That’s because we know both kids and the elderly are going to love this. It’s a soft and fluffy hot bun that’s stuffed with Bahu or Pork Floss. With a variety of traditional fillings to choose from, this delicacy brings back so many memories. Aside from that, they also have really good olden days Tong Sui too. So don’t miss out on this hidden spot in Butterworth!

2. Chaw Choon Dim Sum

Ask a person from Butterworth about Dim Sum, and they’ll answer it’s at Chaw Choon. Occupying 3 stores in a row, you’ll easily spot them from far. Assorted Dim Sum for selection, you’ve got to queue up in line to get your favourite Dim Sum. Unless you’re only getting the fried food because they’ll be going around in pushing carts. P.S. they’ve got really good Egg Tarts so give it a try when you’re nearby!

3. Xin Feng Kopitiam

Located near the Prai Industrial Area, you’ll be surprised that this hidden gem sells one of the best Koay Teow Soup in town. The boss cooks each bowl of Koay Teow Soup separately to maintain its flavours and quality. Oh and don’t forget to tell the ‘Tao Keh’ to crack an egg into the soup too! You’re going to love this as much as we do! Secretly telling you this, but the Hakka Tai Lok Mee here is really good too.

Well-known for their Mee Goreng with Sotong (Cuttlefish), the red sauce has a little spicy kick that makes you want to eat more. We also recommend their Pasembur too. Every bite is filled with crunchy fritters that are drizzled with a delicious thick gravy. So trust us on this.

Looking quite normal from the exterior. But once you cut into the bread, you’ll see gooey egg yolk and melting cheese oozing out the centre of the toast. It’s just so irresistible!

Being one of the biggest wet markets in Butterworth, it also has a wide range of local delicacies. And a must-try here is the Fried Yam Dumplings (芋角). Sold by an uncle for more than 30 years, there’s still a queue in front of his stall every day. Be careful when you bite into this delicious ball of goodness because the meat filling is very juicy. And did we mention the Wan Tan Mee here is famous too?
