The small stall located next to the new Sunway building is always full with both students and lecturers. In comparison with other maggi gorengs in Penang, Mamu’s maggi goreng isn’t as dry and it packs a punch with flavours! Apart from maggi goreng, they server nasi goreng and mee goreng, too! You can add sunny-side up egg, sausages, potatoes, and chicken chunks into your fav!

Sharing the same location as Mamu Maggi Goreng, there’s Nasi Campur Melayu! They’re co-sharing the same dining area. You can fix your cravings for rice, curry, and other dishes here! It is a good place for a quick meal. Oh, and for a plus point, they give out free bananas for their customers every Friday!

If you are planning for a yum cha date with your friends before classes, this is the place to be! Restoran Zim Sum reminds you of a bustling dim sum restaurant in Hong Kong. They have everything you will possibly want to eat, from steamed to fried! Although the place is very spacious, and airy, it is pretty full most of the time! Best to go if you have free long periods.

4. Pinang Delicious Food Court | Jalan Macalister

As expected, there must be at least one food court on the list. Pinang Delicious Food Court serves highly praised lam mee, also known as birthday noodles. Other hawker stalls in the food court also include hokkien mee, chicken rice, and economy rice are also available! It is noted that their curry noodles are slightly more expensive as compared to the rest.

5. 7 Village Noodle House | Lorong Abu Siti

This chain restaurant is a good place to go if you’re looking for a quick bite and air conditioning! They serve many kind of noodles and side dishes that reflects the taste of Penang. They are well known for their koay teow th’ng! Silky noodles, thick broth, and bouncy fish balls! Yay! If you’re not into soup, they have dry noodles as well. Pair it together with their steamed chicken for the perfect dish!

6. Viva La Pasta | Jalan Rangoon

Viva La Pasta serves Italian food. The very well designed restaurant serves pasta as cheap as RM 13.00 per plate! You can try Arrabbiata, pasta with spicy tomato sauce and Italian cheese, or Aglio Olio, pasta with garlic, olive oil, chilli, and dried shrimps! If you are looking for something to share with your friends, they have different types of pizzas like Viva Pizza, a combination of marinated chicken chunks, and mozzarella cheese.

Right behind Giant, there’s One Corner Cafe. The coffee shop has a variety of local food including curry mee, chee cheong fun, lor mee, char koay teow, and pork noodles. Hokkien mee is the highlight of the place! Served with thick prawn broth, prawns, fish cakes, meat slices, and a combination of bee hoon, and egg noodles. It is so good that you have to wait for more than 30 minutes to get your bowl!

8. Hot Bowl White Curry Mee | Jalan Rangoon

Who doesn’t love a hot bowl of white curry mee? The must order is served with pig’s blood, cockles, tofu puffs, and squid. The soup has a good flavour and you get to add the chilli paste in by yourself! Depending on your appetite, you can order it big or small! They have other things in their menu such as steam chicken, and hor fun soup (what a great combination!).

9. Krung Thep Thai Restaurant | Lorong Selamat

Thai restaurants are usually expensive but this one is not bad at all! The classic Thai food restaurant offers food for one pax such as stir-fried pad prick with rice, and pad thai all for less than RM 10. Apart from that, you can order dishes and rice to share with your friends! There’s garlic fried chicken wings, Thai fried kangkung, and fried enoki, too! Sweet endings include mango rice, and grass jelly with longan, and lemon.

It feels like that the pan mee trend will never go away. If you are craving for pan mee, you have to stop by at Ah Gu Pan Mee. They don’t serve typical pan mee that you’ll see in shopping malls. They have clam pan mee, lard pan mee, and mushroom chicken feet pan mee. If you want to go the extra mile, there’s add-on such as fish balls, fungus, minced meat, eggs, and clams!
