Food unites people, and that is especially true when it comes to Malaysia, a multiracial country with different heritage and culture. Yet you’ll see people from different backgrounds gathered around one table in a lot of coffee shops and restaurants, chitchatting away and enjoying different cuisines.
While there are a lot of Chinese restaurants in Penang, there aren’t many options available on the island for our Muslim friends. PG Premium Chinese Muslim Cuisine Restaurant, however, breaks the norm by offering some of the best Halal Chinese cuisines. That’s not all, the one-of-a-kind upscale restaurant also has a lavish private room that lets you sing until the cows come home with your friends and family!
PG Premium Chinese Muslim Cuisine Restaurant Is The FIRST In Penang To Have A Private Room With Karaoke System:
Nestled along Lebuh Leith, some might be familiar with the tastefully designed premise. Once known as Pak Liew Premium Chinese Muslim Restaurant, a brand new management has since taken over, switching out their menu entirely, with a brand new concept. We’ve tried both of their dishes, and to be frank, we’ve never tasted any Halal Chinese cuisines that are this close to authentic on the whole island.
Step into PG Premium Chinese Muslim Cuisine Restaurant and you’ll be greeted with an upscale, east-meets-west modern interior. The restaurant, in general, is contemporary yet cozy enough to fit large crowds or big families, perfect to host events and celebrations.
Behind those tastefully designed walls reveal an elegant private room that could cozily fit up to 30 pax. The best part is, it has an LED TV that is built with top-notch PA and karaoke system! Meaning to say you can host the most intimate dining experience and sing along with your friends and family while savouring some gastronomic Chinese fares.
Halal Chinese Indulgence at PG Premium Chinese Muslim Cuisine Restaurant:
As mentioned, we were utterly impressed by the menu that the restaurant offers. We’ve tried out most of what they have on the list, including their bestsellers, and here’s our verdict. In Chinese cuisine, besides the colour and flavours, ‘wok hei’ (the flavour and taste from a hot wok) is also particularly important. Guess what? We tasted it in most of their dishes.
While Hor Fun is commonly found anywhere in Malaysia, this might be the only place where you can find Halal Deep Fried Hor Fun with Grouper. Soft, flat rice noodles are deep-fried until crispy and coated evenly with the broth and paired with fresh Grouper. This is a dish that waits for no one and has to be devoured almost immediately else the texture would turn soggy. So far, there’s only one stall in Balik Pulau that offers the same dish, but non-Halal variant and we can vouch that both tasted very similar.
Besides that, PG Premium Chinese Muslim Cuisine Restaurant also offers a list of local Chinese delicacies, like Penang Char Koay Teow, Chinese Fried Rice with Crab Meat, Cheong Fun, Prawn Mee, Curry Mee, Sar Hor Fun and more. Unlike other Halal street food places that offer the exact same dishes, most of them tend to preserve a ‘Malay’ style. These on the other hand, are pretty close to authentic, aromatic and full of that ‘wok hei.’
If Dim Sum is your guilty pleasure, then look no further. They offer freshly made, steamy Dim Sum curated by their team from as low as RM3.90! That’s a steal considering the ambiance and impeccable service from their staff. Thinking to host a large group that requires a menu that could satisfy every palate? Then opt for their Set Menus which includes an array of their bestselling Halal Chinese dishes. We highly recommend trying out their Nyonya Steamed Fish, Sweet & Sour Chicken, Fried Kangkung and more.
PG Premium Chinese Muslim Cuisine Restaurant is hands down one of the few places in Penang where everyone, regardless of their differences, could sit down comfortably and enjoy the same cuisines together. Upcoming birthdays? Corporate events? Celebrations? No worries, just make a call to the restaurant and they’ll have you covered with their private room. Do take note that a minimum spending of RM399 is required in order to book the private room that comes with a karaoke system.
Besides their current outlet in George Town, PG Premium Chinese Muslim Cuisine Restaurant also has another outlet in Bukit Mertajam, we highly recommend checking both places out for a different dining experience.
