There’s a New Nusantara Inspired Cafe in Penang Named After Two Rescued Cats

Hi, Foodies! George Town is already packed with cafes, but we will always welcome more. Good news for all cafe hoppers. This new spot, Langit Senja Kopi is dedicated to those who have missed the aroma and taste of coffee from different parts of Asia, especially Indonesia!

Langit Senja Kopi: A Little Nusantara Cafe In Town

This 6 week-old cafe is named after their two rescued cats, Langit and Senja! How cute is that? There, one reason for cat lovers to visit this cafe. Also, they have a selection of coffee beans from Asian regions. These beans are imported all the way from Kenya, Myanmar and especially Indonesia (Bali, Sumatera, Sulawesi). Hence, they are confident in serving the best coffee that suits your tastes.

Furthermore, they also offer a variety of local kuih such as Karipap and Onde-onde. Leaning towards more of the Indonesian culture, this cafe also offers chocolates from West Java and traditional Indonesian Kek Lapis! Pre-order mains such as Nasi Ayam Penyet Nusantara is also available on weekends in conjunction with this fasting month.

Langit Senja Kopi is tucked in an old house along Lebuh Peking. Environs with greens, wooden furniture and opened roof, this cafe is a perfect place to hide from the hustle and bustle of George Town city. This cafe is a little hidden so customers’ will get the chance to have a little bit of that cafe hunting experience!

Vinyl, Cassettes & Zine At Ruas Record Store!

If you think that is all to this cosy little space, you’re wrong. Surprise! The front part of the cafe is actually a record store that opens from 8 PM to 11 PM. This space is filled with cassette, vinyl, zine & books!  Here, you get to purchase your favourite vinyl and cassettes, or simply enjoy a cup of Joe while reading a book under the starry night sky of George Town.

Although their menu is still small, where else can you hang out while listening to minimalist music such as Payung Teduh and Ruang Sendiri? This cafe will definitely give you a whole new Indonesian vibe. If you’re planning to buka puasa here, make sure to make your reservation early and let us know your thoughts on this newly opened cafe. Also, don’t forget to abide by the SOPs and stay safe!
