Foodies, how have you been? Remember the Sivaganga cluster that caused over 30 infections and spreaded across three different states? Nezar Mohamed Sabur Batca, apparently the super spreader, also the owner of Restoran Nasi Kandar Salleh in Napoh, Kubang Pasu, Kedah has pleaded guilty this morning.

According to The Star Online, the super spreader was sentenced to a five months jail and a fine of RM12k for defying a quarantine order under the recovery movement control order (MCO), over four accusations. Nezar, was found present at four different premises between between 3pm and 4.40pm on July 14 – the Public Bank Jitra Branch, Revenue Service Centre of the Inland Revenue Board Kubang Pasu branch, Agro Bank Jitra Branch and Bank Rakyat Jitra branch.
Should he fail to pay the fine, Nezar will face an additional three months jail time for each of the four charges. Identified as an index patient of the Sivaganga cluster, he is a permanent resident who returned to Malaysia from Sivaganga, Tamil Nadu, India on July 13. Initially tested negative during the first COVID-19, Nezar was put to a Home Surveillance Order for 14 days but failed to obey within the quarantine period.
