Shangri-La Group Demonstrates Extensive Effort To Keep Guests Safe And Comfortable During Stay

We can never be too careful when it comes to safety measures against Covid-19. Even during RMCO, Malaysians are reluctant to go outside and ‘seize the world’. Its only natural because we want to avoid another wave hitting the nation. With that in mind, Shangri-La Group came up with “Shangri-La Cares”. Commiting to new cleanliness and safety protocols for all of their properties worldwide.

Shangri-La Cares

Focusing on the wellbeing and safety of their guests and colleagues, Shangri-La had tripled their efforts to enhance the cleanliness and safety of their hotels and resorts. To give a bit more exposure to their methods, the group provided us with infographics of their operation flow.

Time Of Arrival

The Shangri-La Group had thought up of safety measures even before we step our foot into their premises. The floor mats were sanitized and placed at the hotel’s entrance to disinfect luggage and footwear. All guests’ temperatures, health, and travel declarations and contact details will be documented. In addition, guests and colleagues will both be secured during confrontations with clear perspex screens placed between guests and staff at the front desk.

Proceeding to the public areas and food and beverage outlets, high touchpoints will receive hourly cleaning and disinfection. This includes door handles and lifts buttons. The capacity for their restaurants, bars, and lifts will also be reduced.

Meanwhile, all guests will be provided with a Shangri-La Care kit that includes a face mask in an envelope, hand sanitizer, and anti-bacterial wet wipes. They even use gadgets such as UV light and electrostatic spray to clean and inspect all surfaces and high-touch points to ensure no areas are missed. Woah!

Not only that, with QR coded menus and digital payment technology, contactless interactions became much easier. Plus, the seating capacity in their restaurants will be capped at 50% of their previous capacity. So you can feel a lot safer during your stay. Recreational facilities will also have shorter operating hours so that they can carry out deep cleaning of equipment and the premises.

The Shangri-La Group is paying a lot of attention to their staff as well. Each member will wear personal protective equipment such as gloves, a face shield, a hairnet, and a face mask where deemed necessary. What’s more, their staff have undergone training with Diversey (an infection prevention expert on the enhanced safety and hygiene measures).
