New 10-Metre Tall Trishaw Peddler Mural Spotted At Prangin Mall Penang

Impressive

Hey there Penangites! As Penang is known as the street food paradise, we’re also quite renowned for one more thing; street art murals. Over the years, Penang boasted some of the most impressive murals such as the iconic ‘Kids On The Bicycle’  and ‘Boy On A Bike’ murals at Armenian Street. A few days ago, we spotted yet another brand new mural at Prangin Mall and one word; IMPRESSIVE.

If you passed by Prangin Mall last week, you’ll also get the once-in-a-blue-moon chance to witness the process of mural-drawing by the artist himself. But if you missed out on that, then don’t worry because we have some details about this mural that we’re sure you guys are looking forward to.

The artist, Sasha Korban is from Ukraine and according to him, Sasha is merely a nickname. His real name is in fact, Alexander. But let’s go with the nickname, shall we? So, this mural is drawn by Sasha in conjunction with the Penang International Container Festival. This is why the mural is drawn over 7 stacked containers.

The mural features a trishaw peddler and is significant to the trishaw culture we have right here in Penang. It took Sasha approximately 8 days to complete this artwork.

The Penang International Container Festival organized by Penang Art District & Can Can Public Art started in October and 30 finalists are selected for the finale round. So, this new mural is a piece of artwork for the finale round of this competition. The winner of this art festival will walk away with RM10,000. And in our personal opinion, Sasha’s artwork could very well earn him this title.
