Penang Ramadan Bazaar 2019 Is Back! (Here Are The Locations)

Are You Guys Ready For This Annual Event?

Hello foodies! The fasting season has commenced and this means we should be respectful of our neighbours who are currently Puasa-ing. While we’ve created an article about fasting tips, today’s writeup is to let you guys know that Penang Ramadan Bazaar 2019 is back!

This event will begin on the 6th of May for a month until the 4th of June 2019. As an annual event for all Penangites, the Ramadan Bazaar promises scrumptious food and delights such as Roti John, Ayam Percik, Nasi Kukus and more. Truly the best reward for our Muslim friends after long hours of fasting.

1. Little India

The Ramadan Bazaar held in Little India comprises of a fusion between Indian and Arabic influences so while you’re here you can expect vibrant delicacies such as pasembur, roti jala and plenty more. You can also get traditional eats like Nasi Briyani and fragrant curries, guaranteed to entice your palates.

2. Taman Tun Sardon

Located next to Astaka Taman Tun Sardon, the parking lot transforms into an arena of food paradise in the evening. Expect to pamper your senses while you’re here as you can find homemade delicacies like cakoi, donuts, and Taman Tun Sardon’s renowned eats. Also, you can find thirst quenchers that will remedy the scorching wet weather.

3. Jalan Makloom

Jalan Makloom’s Ramadan Bazaar is known as one of the best in Penang due to the wide array of food served here. You can get noodles, grilled chicken, stir-fried vegetables, thirst quenchers, dessert as well as juicy fruits. Over at this Bazaar, it’s a meal that’s perfectly balanced. One particular stall sells drinks that are good starters to break a long day of fasting.

4. Behind Penang General Hospital

Right behind Penang General Hospital is a road that’s fully bloomed with stalls selling Ramadan delicacies. As this bazaar is commonly packed with loyal patrons, there are plenty of eats here that are not-to-be-missed. You can get sweet dessert here to break fast such as bubur jagung or fried snacks such as Pasembur. Expect this place to be crowded and packed especially during peak hours.

5. Kompleks Bukit Jambul

This year, Kompleks Bukit Jambul will be having their very own KBJ Raya Bazaar Ramadan. Held at the Promenade Area of Kompleks Bukit Jambul, there will be a huge display of not only local delights to buka puasa to but there will also be clothes on sale. Time to get our Raya shopping done here. Don’t miss out on this as you can pamper your palates with real good feast.

6. Bayan Baru

Bayan Baru’s Ramadan Bazaar is constantly helmed by both Muslim and non-Muslim foodies. This has to be attributed to the large selection of food available here such as charcoal-fired sate sticks, and more than 100 types of ‘nasi’ like the ‘nasi tomato’, ‘nasi kandar’ as well as ‘nasi Arab’. It’s easy to spot this bazaar as it is located around the Bayan Baru mosque.

7. Balik Pulau

Located in front of the Balik Pulau Mosque, this Ramadan Bazaar is not one that disappoints. You are guaranteed to be spoiled for choice when you make a trip here as there are colourful kuihs, fragrant curries on display as well as plenty of fruit juices to quench thirsts.

8. Tanjong Tokong

On the other end of Penang Island where pristine beaches are common tourist attractions, there’s also a Ramadan Bazaar here. As one of the many bazaar to break fast, this place no longer needs any elaborate introduction. Get ready to feast on local delights such as Laksa Buyung Kak Zah, Nasi Kukus and Nasi Tomato. It’s all the good food under one roof. Feast away!
