The surge of Covid-19 cases in Malaysia for the past week has been worrying. Yesterday, over 17,000 new daily cases were reported, while Penang recorded a new high of 573 cases. Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow has been ordered to quarantine at home after one of his bodyguards tested positive.
Penang Chief Minister Undergoes Home Quarantine:
According to Free Malaysia Today, Penang CM was ordered to undergo at-home quarantine with immediate effect by the state health department after one of his bodyguards, a police officer tested positive for Covid-19.
With that, he would not be able to attend any meetings or site visits, including the special five-day Parliament sitting.
“I went for an RT-PCR test as required on Friday and it was negative. My next one is on Wednesday and I hope all will be good,” he said.
It is also worth mentioning that Chow has already received two doses of vaccine. Meaning to say he’s fully vaccinated.
Let’s hope his result comes back negative on Wednesday, stay strong CM! With the cases rising in Penang, it’s best to stay home to protect ourselves and our loved ones. Don’t forget to also practice safe hygiene, stay safe and #kitajagakita.
