The very first new spot to check out in Penang is Parkin’ Chill. It’s a new Thai bistro in town that’s located smack in an open space car park. For the menu, you can find Thai street food and snacks and though rather limited, it’s sufficient if you wanna just hang out and chill with your best buds. Options include Thai Pork Lard Rice and a seasonal menu that changes every week. Now there’s no more missing Thai street food when you can get them right here in Penang.

2. Sedaun
Nestled in Arena Curve, Sedaun Modern Food serves gourmet food with an Asian twist. With an all-white interior, you can expect to find options such as Pasta, Unagi Don, Scallop Butter Baked Rice, and more. To pair with the delicious fare, order their Hot Latte, Iced Cafe Latte, and more. It has a casual and cozy dining ambiance so if you’re looking to enjoy some novel cafe fare, drop by at Sedaun Modern Food.

3. Little Collins Street Cafe

This place used to be a clinic but has since then been revamped into a Japanese-style industrial cafe. Here, you can find freshly-baked goods such as cookies, croissants, specialty bread, and more. The plus point of this cafe is that there are plenty of Instagram-worthy backdrops to glam up your social media.

4. Ichi Tong
Combining traditional Chinese cuisine and modern folk cooking, Ichi Tong is yet another new spot in the heart of George Town. The overall interior is rather simple, with a brightly-lit brick wall and wooden furniture pieces.

5. Tian Yuan Desserts
Recently opened, Tian Yuan Desserts is an outdoor dessert shop situated in ESH Landscaping. Offering more than 25 desserts, this spot offers Tian Yuan’s Signature Dessert Platter – the 3 X 3 box comprises of nine of its signature desserts including Pandan Tofu with Boba, Mango Puree with Sago, and Aiyu Jelly with Calamansi and Passion Fruit. Apart from desserts, Tian Yuan Desserts has main dishes such as Sichuan Mala Dry Pot and Broth Noodles. The most captivating element at Tian Yuan Desserts is its overall ambience. Simple wooden furniture and dried leaves attap decorate the interior and exterior, transporting you back to the olden China times; while a modern twist of fairy lights stunningly illuminate the space.

Started out as a home baker, Bagel’s Dream recently opened up a humble and cozy spot inside of Kim Haus.
