Say you’re looking for something new aside from Penang’s ever-vibrant street food scene, we have a suggestion. Take a trip over to Spain (without having to leave Penang) by checking out Un Poco Loco, a delightful Spanish tapas bar. It is the newest addition to the culinary scene in town nestled within City Junction, Tanjung Tokong.
Un Poco Loco: The Latest Spanish Tapas Bar In Penang
Brought to life by the creative team behind MICHELIN One-Star Restaurant Au Jardin, Un Poco Loco promises a flavorful journey through the heart of Spain. Once you step into Un Poco Loco, the cozy and warm ambiance with a hint of Mediterranean flair will immediately captivate your attention. They also cater to larger group dining so if you’re seeking an inviting restaurant for gatherings with colleagues, friends, and family, this will surely be an excellent choice.
As for the menu, you can look forward to savouring a diverse array of meticulously crafted and delectable dishes ranging from Hot or Cold Tapas to Canned Food, Mains, Tapas, and all the way to after-meal sweets.
Firstly, we tried several Tapas here which include Gambas Al Ajillo, Spanish Ham Croquetas, Fresh Mussels & Clams Steam In Wine, and Wild Grouper Ceviche. As we tried both cold and hot tapas, these bite-sized selections allowed us to sample a little bit of everything. They also serve ‘in-house’ canned food here, which includes Cured Norwegian Mackerel, Squid Eggs, Cuttlefish & Chorizo and Mushroom Al Ajillo.
Next, our favourite main from Un Poco Loco has got to be, hands down, their Paella. You can pick from 2 versions; the Classic Paella or the Saffron Squid-inked Paella. Both are one-pan wonders that are perfectly cooked with the star of the dish being the assortment of fresh seafood. Other mains that were worth adding to your order are the Grilled Whole Mackerel and Wagyu Oyster Blade.
Looking for a quick and satisfying lunch for two? How about tucking in an appetising Roasted Tomatoes Cappuccino followed with Homemade Whole Coiled Chorizo with Salt Roasted and Pickled Veg Salad?
