As Penangites, we are constantly on the hunt for good and cheap eats. Most of the time, we would wound up in a food court because of the variety of food options available. We’re sure everyone knows of Mutiara Selera Food Court at Tanjung Bungah, right? Well, good news! This food court will be rebuilt and expected to reopen by January next year.
Mutiara Selera Food Court Set To Reopen Next Year
In the morning of November 7th, 2020, the Mutiara Selera food court in Tanjung Bungah was engulfed by flames. As a result, the food court suffered 70% of damage. In the fire, 30 food and drink stalls were razed in the fire. Ever since the fire, the food court has been closed down and operations were unable to be resumed.
But today, it was just announced that we can all expect a new and improved food court that will reopen next year. The food court will feature 40 stalls measuring 120sqft each instead of the usual 33 stalls. Moreover, it will have a new layout that is more conducive and friendly for the disabled. There will also be a pavilion with a surau, office, and a storeroom.
That isn’t all, the new and improved Mutiara Selera food court will have ample natural lighting and ventilation. The overall revamp works will cost RM3.49 million and will reopen as the first green building index (GBI) certified public food court in Penang. according to Penang infrastructure and transport executive councillor Zairil Khir Johari.
Looking Forward To This
If you notice, the new food court structure will have stalls operating in the middle of the space encircling the pavilion. We cannot wait for this food court to be up and ready again, what do you think?
