Located at the peak of Bukit Jambul Hill, Mario’s Italian Cuisine offers by far one of the most astounding panoramic view the island has to offer.Beautifully complemented with their Italian menu and heart-warming hospitality, serenity is the word to describe it all. Tucked away from the bustling island and commercial development, this hidden gem is the perfect spot for short a getaway with your loved ones (hint: things are about to get pretty romantic. You’re very welcome).
Now a bit about the place and we’ll jump right into the menu. Built back in 1994 by the owner of the Mario’s Italian Cuisine Mr and Mrs.Lingham , this was once their home until they decided to establish it into a scenic dine-in. Now, let cut to the chase and step right in to the very reason you’re here: FOOD !
Mario’s Italian Cuisine
Starters: Mushroom Soup
We started off our meal with their signature mushroom soup (rm16). Incorporating wild mushroom diced to a fine size without losing it’s bite, it was perfectly creamy without overwhelming the taste buds. An ideal start to a mouth-smacking Italian journey.
Chicken Fajitas with Red Wine
Followed by that was their Chicken Fajitas (RM53).Be ready to put the fork down and get messy with your hands as this dish needs some constructing a massive flavor in the mouth. Brought to you on 2 different plates are the corn tortilla accompanied with a bit of guacamole, grated cheese, and tomatoes as toppings. The other plateconsists of stripes of tender chicken marinated and grilled with capsicums and onions. The chicken was marinated and seasoned to the core as it turned out juicy, flavorful and tender. Together with that and the toppings, the tortillas are used to gather everything into a wrap and there you have it: Chicken fajitas.Though ranging on a steeper note, it’s worth the try.
Lobster Aglio Olio
Besides receiving such kind hospitality from both Mr Lingham and his wife who made us feel like home, our second highlight to this visit was the majestic dish that made its way to our table and surprised us with its outcome. Regular Lobster Aglio Olio be like’ Chunks of lobster thrown into a mix of Aglio Olio spaghetti’.We beg to differ here. Served in the shell, the luscious chunks of lobsters coated with a creamy base had a kick of tanginess to cut through the rich flavor. Perfect balance to satisfy the palate.Combined with a spicy twist of a classic Aglio Olio, it’s a whole other new experience to be discovered here in Mario’s Italian Cuisine
Secret Menu & Dessert
I can’t say much but it involves spicy prawns, red sauce, and doughy based product. It’s spicy.Cheesy goodness.Spicy goodness.Just putting it out there. As for the dessert, you’ll have to find out yourself as we were unzipping our pants halfway to accommodate the growing food baby.
Alongside this great restaurant, there are 8 rooms available with an astounding view overlooking the Penang Bridge and the hill view accompanied by a lounge area and a soundproof entertainment room to get the party started.Do not hesitate to check in with the restaurant manager for further inquire of the room or if you’re too shy find them on http://booking.com
In all, albeit not as authentic as we expected, they did compromise to our expectation with their flavorful Asian infused twist to their Italian menu that would certainly please the locals and surprise the tourist with their innovative touch to the dish. We’ll guarantee that you leave the place filled, satisfied to the core and find yourself coming back for the view, food and the kind-hearted people that will bring a smile to your face.
