10,000 Lights To Brighten Up Kek Lok Si Temple Penang From 19th January 2020

Chinese New Year is only 8 days away! How excited are you guys to ring in CNY? Of course, there’ll be plenty of feasting, Yee Sang tossing and red packets as well as munching on CNY cookies endlessly. Talking about it makes us so excited! As a fellow Penangite, aside from our scrumptious food, we’re also really proud of Kek Lok Si. And every year without fail, Kek Lok Si Penang will be lit up as a way to welcome yet another new year.

Ring In CNY With Bright Lights At Kek Lok Si Temple Penang

So, like all the previous years, Kek Lok Si will be turned into a picturesque temple that’s illuminated with tens and thousands of lights. This makes Kek Lok Si fairly noticeable from far away. If you’ve ever been to the temple during CNY, you would already know what we’re talking about.

Wherever you look, there will be bright lights all around and this makes us a tad more excited to celebrate CNY.

In case you’re wondering, these lights comprise tens of thousands of LEDs, neon lights and traditional Chinese lanterns. Also, the traditional lanterns which lined around the temple alternates between yellow and red thus creating a spectacular sight. This is further complemented by the modern multi-coloured lantern neon lights.

Kek Lok Si Temple, Penang’s pride is made up of a 120 feet tall bronze statue of Kuan Yin, the Goddess of Mercy. And when it’s lighted up, everyone will involuntarily stop whatever they’re doing to admire its majestic beauty.

This 2020, Kek Lok Si will be lighted up from 19th January 2020 until 21st February 2020. For a month, we’ll all get to snap some stunning pictures to show off on our Instagram.
