Good day friends! This week marks the third phase of the Movement Control Order which will be ongoing until 28th April 2020. In addition to that, here’s a piece of news directly-related to Penangites. The Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah Flyover heading towards Bayan Lepas will be closed from today onwards.

Sultan Azlan Shah Flyover Towards Bayan Lepas Is Closed From Today

As many of us already know, the MCO is here to encourage citizens from leaving home and this way, reduce the spread of COVID-19. In addition to that, the one-person-per-car-rule is mandated as a way to reduce public movement of any sort. While a majority of us are complying by the rule there are, of course, those who are flouting the rule. Thus, roadblocks are crucial to ensure compliance of the rule.

This time around, the Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah Flyover closure heading towards Bayan Lepas is already taking place.

Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah flyover closed

Reported by The Star, Southwest district OCPD Supt A. Anbalagan said that the closure was meant to limit public movement and at the same time, manage traffic flow at various locations in the district.

Starting from this morning at 7AM, the road closure began from Tapak Pesta Sungai Nibong heading all the way to Bayan Lepas. Also, the road closure is only one way. This means that the flyover will still be open to those heading to George Town.

Limit Unnecessary Movement & Stay Safe

While the Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah will be closed, those travelling to Bayan Lepas will have to take a detour beneath the flyover. So, for those who are residing nearby, do take note. For now, remember to always stay safe and limit any sort of unnecessary movement.
