Two Renown Hotels In Penang Announces Temporary Closure Due To Pandemic

Hello, foodies! With more than a month of MCO and travel restrictions, many businesses have struggled to stay afloat during this time. While grocery stores and the food industries are turning towards the delivery service, the hotel industries have no choice but to downsize their businesses. With a significant decrease in business, two hotels in Penang announces temporary closure amidst the pandemic.

Two Renown Hotels In Penang Announces Temporary Closure

Penang has always been one of the top places in Malaysia to explore the various colours of history. Be it for the food or the scenery. It’s no wonder that many businesses rely on tourists, one of which is the hotels. However, with the Coronavirus pandemic, many hotels have been struggling. With no alternative, Mercure Penang Beach and The Gurney Resort Hotel are temporarily closing down to downsize its loss.

With previous news stating the Jazz Hotel, Penaga Hotel and Jerejak Island Resort are closing down amidst the pandemic. The Plenitude Bhd has also announced that it is downsizing operations. Among the three hotels to be temporarily closed, two of them are Mercure Penang Beach and The Gurney Resort Hotel and Residence.

Despite businesses severely impacted by the Coronavirus outbreak, safety is still the first priority among all. With other branches of the hotel still operating, the company will continue to closely monitor the situation and taking precautions to ensure the safety of its guests and staff.
