KOMTAR Tower Lights Up In Orange Indicating George Town Now An Orange Zone

Hello there Penangites! The second week into CMCO and we’re beginning to see a decline in the number of daily dases for Penang. Just last night, the iconic KOMTAR Tower was lit up in orange and this is an indication that George Town is now an orange zone.

George Town Now An Orange Zone As Of 18th November, 12PM

Over a month ago, George Town became a red zone after reporting 141 new cases from the Remand Cluster. In brief, a red zone is when a sub-district reports 41 cases and more. 21-40 cases would be an orange zone, whereas 1-20 cases would be a yellow zone. Of course, if there are 0 cases, the sub-district would be a green zone.

As of 18th November 2020, 12PM, Jabatan Kesihatan Negeri Pulau Pinang reported that there are 33 active cases in George Town. On 17th November 2020, George Town recorded 44 active cases. Meanwhile, Penang recorded 16 new cases whereas there were 660 new cases in Malaysia.

Even though this is a piece of good news, clearly the work isn’t quite done. An orange zone for George Town signals that we all have the ability to curb the spread of COVID-19. There are still 3 red zone sub-districts in Penang (Mukim 13, Mukim 12, and Mukim 6).
