They say early bird gets the worm, but we, especially the younger generations these days have a love-hate relationship with breakfast. Don’t get us wrong, we love breakfast, but hate the idea of waking up early. So when we chanced upon this new all-day breakfast spot in Penang, we immediately fell in love with it. It’s called Gen-Ki Canteen, and they serve breakfast menu along with local favourites, but the best part is, they’re open until night time!
Gen-Ki Canteen is a New All-Day Breakfast Spot in Penang Serving Local Favourites:
Located in Greenlane, Gen-Ki Canteen has just opened up their door, whipping delicious yet homey breakfast dishes with a local touch. We would like to think that they’re a hybrid of a local coffee shop and a cafe.
It’s quite easy to miss the spot at first, but they’re located along the stretch of shophouses before Shell petrol station. There’s ample parking spots to park right in front of the shop so don’t worry.
Gen-Ki Canteen offers a selection of breakfast fares, including local favourites like Toast and Egg, Nasi lemak, Milo Dinosaur, Kopi Peng and their signature Hokkien Mee, which is our favourite among all. The bowl of noodles is extremely appetizing with its thick broth and fragrant chili.
On the Western side, find dishes like ham and cheese sliders, scrambled egg on toast, and more. They have literally just launched less than two weeks ago, so do expect longer serving time and limited menu.
There’s also a few aesthetic, or shall we say, quirky corners designated for photos. If you’re looking for a homey, casual all-day breakfast spot in Penang to dine-in, look no further than Gen-Ki Canteen.
