It has been more than a year that Malaysia is in this ongoing pandemic battle. Of course, with the multiple lockdowns, no one is having it easy. Some might have it less difficult but nevertheless, we are all fighting a battle that only we ourselves can understand. If you know of anyone in need of aid, here is a list of food banks in Penang offering free necessities.
Food Banks For The Needy In Penang
1. Nasmir Nasi Kandar
Nasmir Holdings, pioneer of Nasmir Nasi Kandar has set up a food bank at their Auto City outlet. It is available from 11AM-6PM and to ensure that there are enough necessities for those in need, each family will only be allowed to take 5 items.

2. Cili Panda
Next up, we have Cili Panda over at Lebuh Tye Sin who has pledged to be a part of the White Flag Campaign. Available from now until 31st of July 2021, Cili Panda has set up a ‘We Care’ table at the entrance of their eatery. There will be necessities provided and even free lunchboxes (from 11 AM to 6 PM and 11 AM -1 PM on Sunday)

3. Kawan Penang
Kawan Penang is a drop-in center serving the street-based community of Penang. They provide numerous regular services for free each week to anyone who may be in need of them. Ever since lockdown, they have been providing free meals to the needy so if you know of anyone in need of some food supplies, you can DM Kawan Penang here.

Hours: Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays | 10:00am – 2:00pm
4. Arati Vilas
Over in Tanjung Bungah, Arati Vilas is opening up their restaurant to give away some free meals. Every Wednesday from 12pm-3pm, those in need of food supplies can drop by at Arati Vilas and retrieve free meals, no questions asked.

5. Ezy’s Coconut Beverages
Ezy’s Coconut Beverages is also another spot offering food and necessities to the public. In fact, you can even donate to this food bank. It’s located over in Gelugor so if you’re nearby and looking for help or to help, just contact

6. Sam’s Groceria
Moving on, Sam’s Groceria over at Straits Quay has also set up a food bank providing essentials like shampoo, flour, and some cup noodles. There is also a warm meal table on the left provided by Ram’s Deli. Don’t hesitate; take what you need and give what you can.

7. Canning Dim Sum
You can also find that Canning Dim Sum has set up its very own food bank outside of their outlet at Bayan Lepas. They have a limit of 2 items per person.

8. FoodBank.Digital
A more advanced Food Bank, FoodBank.Digital is a food-sharing drive initiated for the community. This drive accepts donations from those willing to lend a helping hand and if you’re in need of food supplies, just apply for food aid via their website.
9. LokalHouz
Crossing the bridge, LokalHouz in Butterworth also has its own food bank ready to cater to those in need of help. On their table, you can find basic necessities canned food, diapers, milk, and more.

10. Batu Lanchang Food Court
Another place in support of the White Flag Campaign is Batu Lanchang Food Court. Every day from 12 PM-2 PM, the food court will be giving away 40 packets of free meals to those in need.

11. Pantai Hospital
Pantai Hospital is also joining in on the campaign and is ready to offer a helping hand from now until 15th July 2021. They have lunch sets from Mondays to Fridays, 11 AM-1 PM with a limit of 50 sets each day. All you need to do is present a picture of your house with the white flag.

Steak Frites over at Love Lane sets up their food bank twice per day, one at 11AM and the second session at 3PM. If you’re in need, you can take anything you want. They have items like flour, oil, eggs and biscuits ready in front of their restaurant.
