There’s really nothing better than putting our tastebuds to the test occasionally. For those who have this knack for all things spicy, then a round or two of Mala hotpot might already be a norm for you. Now speaking of Mala hotpot, did you know that there’s a new opening right here in Penang? Make way for Feng Wang Fu Hotpot at Gurney Paragon Mall, Penang.
Feng Wang Fu Hotpot Is Finally Here In Penang
While there are already countless Mala hotpot places dotting the map in Penang, but this is the first-ever Feng Wang Fu outlet on our island. Feng Wang Fu Hotpot (FWF) already has a total of 3 outlets in KL over at Bukit Bintang, The Landmark (Klang) as well as 1 Utama Shopping Centre.
Upon stepping foot into the place, the overall interior will take you back in time. With classic Chinese decor items such as wooden chairs, tables and lanterns, it’ll be like having a hotpot session in China.
In case you may not know, FWF specializes in authentic Chengdu Hotpot, with 5 broth variations. Among the 5 different types of broth, there are 2 Mala options (Nine Square Spicy Mala Soup or the Signature Spicy Mala Soup), Vitamin C Tomato Soup, Beauty Collagen Bone Soup, and Chinese Herbal Mushroom Soup. You can also pick from Single Pot, Double Pot, or even Trio Pot.
As for the ingredients to go with your hotpot, get ready for a feast like no other because FWF has more than 90 types of ingredients! Some of the signature ingredients that you must not miss out on are the Handmade Bamboo Shrimp Paste, Snowflake Beef Slice, seafood options, and many more.
You can also enjoy some of their must-try snacks like the Fried Spam, Brown Sugar Glutinous Rice Cake, Fried Glutinous Rice Ball, and more.
As for the signature dipping condiment, FWF’s friendly staff will mix them for you and it consists of garlic, scallion, coriander, chilli and sesame oil.
Now before you dive in, there’s one other thing that you must do and it’s only available at Feng Wang Fu Hotpot. That is, you will be served bread slices to absorb all the excess oil from the hotpot. It’s that detail to attention that does it for us, really.
If you love Mala, then FWF has just recently launched Mala Potato Chips so you can even snack on them and take the numb feeling with you wherever you go. Mala Potato Chips are also available for purchase in-store.
