There is no denying the severity of the COVID-19 pandemic. On a daily basis, Penang records over 300 new cases. Just hours ago, Majlis Keselamatan Negara has released a press statement enforcing EMCO in 13 localities around Pekan Bayan Lepas, Penang.
EMCO In 13 Localities Around Pekan Bayan Lepas, Penang
Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO), or PKPD is the strictest of all orders and is usually implemented in specific areas where new clusters have been identified.
The 13 localities that are soon to be EMCO areas in Penang are as follows:
- Sri Bayu
- Bayu Tiara
- Bayu Nyaman
- Halaman Murni
- Bayan Permai
- Bayan Tiara
- Taman Ara Indah
- Kampung Bukit
- Jalan Mahkamah
- Kampung Perlis
- Kampung Masjid
- Lebuh Kampung Bukit
- Kampung Pak Lah
EMCO will be enforced in these localities from 4th June until 17th June 2021. The Pekan Bayan Lepas localities have recorded 83 new cases in a span of 2 weeks and 250 active cases, to date.
Furthermore, for areas under EMCO, only (1) person from each household is allowed to stock up on necessities. Any entry or exit from EMCO areas is strictly forbidden.
