How To Enjoy Your Meal Safely & Securely
We have broken down the standard operating procedure (SOP) into six simple steps for you to practice social distancing while enjoying your favorite meal at malls, fast-food chains, and hotels. Here’s the breakdown!
1. Customers Are Encouraged To Wear Masks
While employees at restaurants are required to wear face masks at all times, customers are strongly encouraged to wear masks as well. And of course, when eating, you can take it off!
2. Utensils To Be Served Only By Waiter/Waitress
Remember the pre-coronavirus days when you can get your own forks, spoons and knives from the food court counter? Now you will adapt to this new norm to minimize exposure of utensils for safety reasons! Restaurants are also required to sterilize all utensils after each use. Also, no sharing of utensils are permitted.
3. Restaurants Will Operate At 50% Capacity
All eateries are only allowed to function at 50% capacity and are required to sanitize the tables often.
4. Social-Distance Dining
Personal space? YAS. All dining tables will be set at two meters apart, and customers are required to stand one meter apart from each other. When paying, stand one meter apart from the cashier. Cashless payments like e-wallets and credit/debit cards are also encouraged!
5. Personal Information
Customers will be required to provide their names and telephone number prior to entering the restaurant. Of course, this is not new to anyone who’s been grocery shopping in Aeon, Sunshine, etc, except now they won’t be taking your IC number anymore. The use of hand sanitizer before entering is also necessary.
*Note to eateries: If you are looking for an easy way to check-in and out, FOODIE+ will be rolling out a new feature soon!
6. Others
Buffet-style dining is still prohibited under Phase 1 and all foreign restaurant workers are expected to test for Covid-19.
Your Cooperation Matters
Your discipline and social responsibility in adhering to the SOP is keeping Penang a green zone. So we just want to say a big “thank you”! Now, enjoy your dine-in meals from Friday, May 15 and you may even catch one or two editors from Penang Foodie dining out. Just don’t forget to say hi!
