A doctor residing in Kedah recently shared on Facebook that private hospitals are accepting COVID-19 patients for treatment. However, it costs a whopping amount.

Let just say you caught the virus (we hope not, so please stay safe). You’ll be placed in a single room with special ventilation and a one-to-one nurse. The bill will come about RM2000-RM3000 per day, and the minimum stay is 10 days, so you do the math. Not to mention the bill is per person.

The doctor even attached photos of the ward, and to be honest, it’s nothing close to being comfortable. If one needs an oxygen supply and couldn’t wear a mask, you’ll be confined in bed with a cover, to prevent further spread of the virus.

A netizen revealed that the most expensive bill for a 14-day treatment in a normal ward costs about RM113,000. Another netizen commented that a patient once got admitted into ICU for 7 days yet couldn’t make it, and the bill came out to be over RM140,000.

The worst part is, COVID-19 is listed under covid exclusion criteria in most insurance policies, and only a few companies will cover the cost. Even if they do, there’ll be a ton of T&C. Another thing to note is that private hospitals only accept cash on COVID cases.

Stay Home, Stay Safe

In our words, you need to be pretty well loaded to get treated in a private hospital. We’re sharing this information not to spread hate, but to serve as a reminder that it is important to adhere to the SOP and stay safe. We’re already running out of resources in government hospitals, and we do not wish anyone to catch the virus. That’s all, take care and buh bye!
