Hey guys, as we all prepare ourselves to bid 2019 a great farewell and send the year on its way, we have some news. Remember our childhood bookstore, BORDERS? Well, yesterday was their last day of operations in Queensbay Mall after 13 years. Yes, it’s a sad piece of news to end 2019.

Farewell, BORDERS Penang

BORDERS Book Store is a local book store that first began operating in Klang Valley back in 2005. The very first outlet opened in Berjaya Times Square and since then, it has made its way into the hearts of many book lovers. Pretty sure when we were younger, most of us have spent quite an amount of our time in BORDERS right?

It’s like our personal retreat space whereby we can stay buried in our favourite book for hours. Back in the days, BORDERS in Queensbay Mall is a spacious book store that’s loaded with different genres of books. And the best part is that there used to be seats overlooking the scenic view of Penang, making it the perfect spot for us to unwind with a cup of coffee and a book. Sounds like a perfect weekend plan for some of us.

Aside from that, BORDERS also supplies educational toys for those of us who learn better by having fun. And not to mention, there are also several limited edition figurines here too. Recently, Starbucks operated in BORDERS to continue supplying coffee for all book addicts.

BORDERS Malaysia announced on its Facebook page yesterday regarding the ceasing of operations and has regarded it to ” rising costs and challenges”. However, for those of us who still own a BORDERS member card, you’ll be relieved to know they’re still operating in Klang Valley as well as online.
