Ever since the implementation of Movement Control Order 2.0, some sectors like tourism and F&B are forced to go on a hiatus. Since the no dine-in policy has been introduced, many hawkers in Penang are struggling to stay afloat. Take, for instance, this hotel chef who had to switch gears to sell 3-for-RM5 sushi in Balik Pulau to make ends meet. If you’re a sushi lover, show LiLi Chee Cheong Fan at Balik Pulau some support.
A Variety Of 3-For-RM5 Sushi At Balik Pulau Penang
LiLi Chee Cheong Fan is a humble hawker stall tucked in Kedai Makan Bukit Penara, Balik Pulau offering Chee Cheong Fan and Yam Cake. LiLi manages the stall on her own while her husband, Mr. Cheah has a full-time job as a hotel chef. However, the said hotel has recently announced its closure, causing Mr. Cheah to lose his main source of income.
But this did not crush his spirit, instead, the husband-wife duo is now joining forces; making full use of Mr. Cheah’s in-depth experience as a hotel chef. The end result? They added filled-to-the-edge sushi to the menu that you can get at only RM5 for 3 pieces! Talk about perseverance right?
Among the sushi flavours, there are Inari sushi, Futomaki, California Roll, Tamago Maki, Ebi Tama Sushi, Magoru Inari and more. Mix & Match any 3 for only RM5, and this is definitely a bang for your bucks. Of course, they also have handmade Chee Cheong Fan and Yam Cake available. Word is that the yam cake is really tender and even has a generous topping of crispy baby shrimps (hae bee).
So if you’re around Balik Pulau, you’re in for some lip-smacking sushi luck. Else, they are also offering doorstep delivery via the RunningMan app.
