Since food recommendation is what we do, it’s only right to share with you guys this 20-year-old gem in Ayer Itam, Penang known as Abbas Nasi Kandar.
A Treasure In Ayer Itam Serving Nasi Kandar & Nasi Tomato
Today, we’ll be making a trip up southwest of Penang to Ayer Itam. Most of us know Ayer Itam because of the infamous Kek Lok Si Temple and possibly, the Laksa as well. But today, we won’t be delving deeper into any of that, instead, we’ll look at a humble pushcart stall that offers lip-smacking Nasi Kandar. Ready?
It’s Abbas Nasi Kandar that is located a stone’s throw away from the Ayer Itam Market. If you’re an Ayer Itam resident, then you’ll most probably have tried the Nasi Kandar at least once. This stall is named after the owner’s son and he has been selling Nasi Kandar for close to 20 years.
There are more than 20 dishes here, including signatures such as Ayam Masak Merah, Daging Masak Hitam, Ayam Bawang as well as their delicious Kari Kepala Ikan.
Nasi Tomato is a popular hit but you can also opt to mix Nasi Tomato with plain white rice. Pick your dishes and don’t leave without drenching your plate with Kuah Campur that consists of 8 types of curries.
