Finally, after 3 long jobless months, hairdressers, salons, and barbers can finally get back on track. Definitely a development we have all been waiting for. Especially when almost everyone transformed into a rocker in these past few months. A huge weight lifted from our chest for sure. In another case, businesses that practice SOP as suggested by the government will certainly gain a lot of trust from their customers.
Executing The SOPs
With the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) in place, an 80-year-old hairdressing salon in Jelutong cautiously prepared everything they could think of for daily operations that start today. Ensuring the safety of customers and workers alike.
V. Segar, 58, owner of Ever Green Hairdressing Salon was careful to equip his staff with plastic poncho, face shields, and face masks. The establishment also sanitized every tool and chair in the salon as a precautionary measure. In addition, floor markers were added in front of the premise to make sure that the customers will queue in an orderly manner while practicing social distance.
Salon And Barbers Are Fully Booked
“It’s going to be a very busy day tomorrow. We even received a few calls from our customers who would like to set a date for a haircut.” Segar said. The shop will operate from 8.00 AM to 8.30 PM.
Segar admitted that it took him and all of his staff a whole month to prepare the safety gears. It will take a while to get used to the new SOP and the new norm. “Our workers ‘took a break’ for three months, but now they are ready to serve,” he continued.
Extra Charges For New Equipments
According to Segar, the new SOP requires them to scan body temperatures and record contact tracing details. Two meters of distance is set between each seat and every equipment will be sanitized before serving the next customer.
“We will charge an extra RM2 for every service offered. Usually, we will charge RM8 for a haircut but it will be RM10 starting tomorrow.” Said Segar yesterday to Bernama. All customers will wear their own disposable apron thus explaining the extra charge. As customers, we should understand that the additional fees are necessary for our own safety so make sure to show your support in any way you can.
