1. Sunway Carnival Mall’s Disney Tsum Tsum “Year of Tigger” Chinese New Year Celebration

Firstly, make a trip over to Sunway Carnival Mall and relive your childhood nostalgia. The entire mall has been transformed into a Disney Tsum Tsum Wonderland with the theme Disney’s Tsum Tsum “Year of Tigger” Chinese New Year Celebration. This ‘Tiger’ year, Sunway Carnival Mall features 4 huge life-size Disney Tsum Tsum characters right in the middle of the concourse area. And, right behind these enormous yet adorable characters, are even more Tsum Tsum characters! Say hello to Mike, Sully, Lots-O-Huggin-Bear, Pluto, and many more! Be sure not to miss out on these cute characters as they will be on display until 20th February 2022.

2. Bukit Kukus Highway

Starting from the 13th of January 2022, a section of the Bukit Kukus Paired Road Project that connects Paya Terubong to Relau will finally open to traffic. This road project under the Penang Island City Council (MBPP) is now 100% completed after 6 years of construction. At the height of 59m from pile caps, it has become the highest elevated highway in Malaysia after Rawang Bypass. The project is divided into 3 sections where each is handled by MBPP (3.3km), PLB Land Sdn Bhd (1.4km), and Geo Valley Sdn Bhd (0.8km).

3. Gurney Plaza Splendour of Spring

As CNY is around the corner, Gurney Plaza has also done a fantastic job by turning its Centre Atrium into a Chinese garden. When you’re there, remember to check out the enormous 28 feet giant lantern right in the middle that is beautifully embroidered! There is also a garden furnished with tall and strong bamboos, with delicate moving flowers. In our opinion, every corner is so photo-worthy.

4. Queensbay Mall CNY

Yet another mall donned with stunning CNY decoration is none other than Queensbay Mall. This year, it has transformed its Central Atrium into a mystical bamboo garden complete with a moon gate, and high built watchtower. Perhaps the most captivating element for this year’s decoration at Queensbay Mall is the wooden bridge above the lotus pond.

The next thing worth checking out in Penang this January 2022 is the newly opened Busan Chicken at Queensbay Mall. Busan Chicken offers Korean fried chicken the authentic way, just like the ones we see at Korean wet markets. Here, you can pick from Korean classic fried chicken, bone chicken, or boneless chicken in 3 flavors; Sweet & Spicy, Soy & Garlic or fried. So if you love Korean fried chicken, this is the place to be.

As one of the new kids on the block, this is a retro Hong Kong eatery located at Bukit Mertajam. Step inside and you’ll be greeted with an interior that takes you back in time. Feast on classic HK favourites like Polo Bun, Curry Fish Balls, Milk Tea and more.

  1. Goodness, this is the best quality visuals and portrayal of any Penang blog I have seen. Likewise having the captions in English truly assist vacationers with understanding Penang’s attractions better.
