Gusto exist for 2 things: Big Breakfast & Live Band! Set in the leafy suburban tranquillity of Tanjung Bungah, Gusto Cafe offers music every second and fourth Saturday night of the month! The bands range from country to straight-up rock with a bit of jazz and all of dat no doubt holding many surprises in store especially on open mic nights! They found the tree and now it’s ‘THE’ tree of all the trees! Taking the crowd by storm, The Pokok Bar offers beers for RM5 on special occasions. I see why they famous. Imitating the breezy life of the island, this place serves locals and travelers solace through ambiance and live music over booze. Highly recommended anyday to chill here 🙂

The last outpost spreading the open mic scene along Penang Island’s northern shore is Living Room in Batu Ferringhi. Every Friday and Saturday night the quirky cafe hosts an inclusive jammin’ session “open to all who can play an instrument or sing along”. To the hilarious shock of some visitors, small riffs and back-and-forths inevitably launch into full-scale songs and ballads whipping all guests into a frenzy.

Serving one of the best burgers decked with cheese, chicken, fried, grilled and the juiciest in town without the commercializing it, Junk Cafe is a hidden gem Y’all need to head for the vibes and chill. The restaurant has long been known for its selection of pizzas baked in a wood oven, and for the crispy duck. Its draft beer and wine are extensive, and it is the perfect place for sundowners as the views over the port, the clan jetties and the sea beyond are rather special.
