2. Roti Bakar @ Ah Wang Cafe
Drive straight up to the Tanjung Tokong route, then drive pass Tesco Sri Tanjung, and look for the first traffic light which you are about to turn right into Jalan Tokong Thai Pak Kong, Ah Wang should be located under a low-cost flat. Calling out the Kaya-lovers, this is the place to be. Enjoy your morning Malaysian style with some kaya and butter on toast ready to be dipped in a ‘Kau’ coffee alongside half-boiled eggs with a group of uncles talking about the recent election(when are they not) on a typical day 🙂 It doesn’t get better than that! What a beautiful day to go for a Ru….*hides under the bed and never leaves!!! No kidding me forever. Though when there are days of motivation running through my veins to wake the hell up and get going, Botanical Garden is the go-to spot.

What better way to spend the weekend than to connect with Mother nature and know beyond!

4. Authentic Malay-style lunch @ Noor Bee
Located right beside Ah Wang Cafe, Noor Bee is a small shop with nothing but a few plastic tables accompanied by plastic chairs serving nothing but the best Fish Head Curry that vanishes as the clock hits 12 (head early if you have your eyes on the head). If the foods good, Penangites will be spotted no matter the race, and Noor Bee has winning hearts serving authentic Malay dishes at an economical price range and the favorites of many for cooking crispy chickens, tangy yet complementing salad and whole lotta choices of gravy to choose from. 6. Night Market on Tuesday Nights
As evening falls, the streets of town come alive with the bustling hawker stalls and street food lined along the road. Some would even consider it to perfect spot for a date night, nibbling on your favorite street snack hand in hand with your other favorite or you could just walk alone, Tanjung Bungah Night markets accept both! LOL.
On Tuesday nights, the market extends its hours and transforms into a bustling night bazaar filled with even more stalls. Bring small change and come hungry to sample a variety of snacks such as ban chang kuih (crispy pancakes), nutmeg juice and satay skewers.

7. Stroll by the pathway at Straits Quay
The island’s first retail marina enclave, Straits Quay provides a comprehensive mix of outlets and attractions from boutiques to Western and Asian restaurants, cafes and bars with a panoramic view. There are bicycles for hire here if you’re interested to cycle around. Not sugarcoating it, there sure isn’t anything much to do here unless for specific purpose albeit if you need a place to unwind or go for a walk by the bay, this is it over a nice fish and chips at the Blue Reef Restaurant alongside a beer at the Irish bar. I take it back, Life is continuing adventure, there’s always something to do!
8. Butterfly Kingdom @ Entopia
Not exactly in the premise of Tanjung Bungah though with a 15 mins drive, you’ll be embarking on a bug adventure full of colors, shapes and fun for all ages!!!! Entopia is about so much more than tropical butterflies – even though there are some 13,000 of these beauties from around 120 species fluttering freely around the well-designed attraction’s outdoor gardens here in Entopia. You’ll also be able to see and learn about all kinds of insects and invertebrates while wandering around this large maze-like environment.
9. Pit stop for Dessert @ De Sweet Love Cafe
unlike those hipstery cafes in town, De Sweet Love Cafe takes on a different approach. The cafe is not hipstery decorated nor with elegant English setting but a cozy and comfortable setting indifferent to a cafe in the neighborhood. So what can one expect to see in such a cafe? Fresh, home-made pastries and cakes. Step in the cafe and you will be welcomed with a huge front counter that is cramped with a myriad of home-made Cakes and pastries; no, not the usual flavors that you can see but expect to see some really exotic ones.

We’ve written about this, shot it and it’s utterly mesmerizing! As the name may suggest, this attraction imitates the wonderful Pandora world from the blockbuster hit Avatar. The movie shows the beauty of dazzling colors in the forest as they inspire and wow the audience. Now, Penang Avatar Secret Garden brings the movie to life right here on this very island.
