There is no better way to get up close and personal with nature than with Entopia by Penang Butterfly Farm. Discover and interact with a variety of insects while being surrounded in a lush green environment. There are a bunch of activities at Entopia that will surely instill knowledge in you about all things bugs and insects. Among their more popular activities is Vita Nova, meaning, new life as you will get to witness the first-flight of newly-emerged butterflies. Another interesting activity is Firefly Breeder, an activity designed to take a closer look at the secret lives of fireflies. 3. Taman Negara- Pantai Kerachut, Monkey Beach, Muka Head

Penang’s national park may be the smallest in the country but what it lacks in size, it more than makes up for in beauty and things to see. There are a bunch of things to see and do at Penang National Park, the only requirements are an adventurous spirit and a desire to explore. Among them are Monkey Beach, Pantai Kerachut and Muka Head. You could opt to hire a boat to these places but we recommend trekking there as you will be experiencing much more that way. If you’ve never been to the top of a lighthouse before,  visiting Muka Head Lighthouse is a must as you will get to experience a panoramic view of Penang. All in all, Monkey Beach and Pantai Kerachut offers a nice place to relax on golden-sand beaches for a picnic or a night-out camping.

4. Tropical Spice Garden

Tranquility is what comes to mind whenever we think of the Tropical Spice Garden in Penang. Here, one can enjoy a tour around the gardens while being introduced to the various plants and spices located there. There are two options available: an audio guide, where you will be carrying along an audio device introducing you to the plant/spices you’re passing, or a guided tour, in which you will be guided by an expert.

Some say the experience of walking through the gardens is comparable to a miniature rainforest, the only difference being the fragrances from all the spices that cling to the air. In addition to this, the Tropical Spice Garden Cooking School offers visitors a chance to test their cooking skills as you will get to learn about various local dishes. 5. Air Terjun Taman Rimba

If you’re not much of a beach person, then maybe a waterfall would suit your swimming needs. Located in Teluk Bahang Eco-Forest Park, this waterfall draws large crowds who stop by to take a dip in its natural water. In addition, there are picnic and camping areas as well as hiking trails for adventurous ones.

6. Penang Batik Factory

If you’ve ever found yourself wondering about the craft of Batik and wanted to witness it in person then look no further. Penang Batik Factory includes both a tour around the factory and a shop where you will be able to purchase authentic Malaysian Batik clothing. Prices are on the more expensive side but as the saying goes, you get what you pay for. Aside from the shop, simply witnessing the artisans employ the methods to create the artwork will surely be worth your while. So, do drop by for a visit.

7. Tropical Fruit Farm

The Tropical Fruit Farm at Teluk Bahang is another place worthy of a mention in this list. This is a great place to increase your knowledge of fruits as you will be guided through the farm. Learn about the benefits of certain types of fruits from experts and sample honey and enzyme drinks. Aside from the tour, there is also the fruit shop with an array of exotic and local fruits for you to choose from.

8. Chin Farm Waterfall

Another lesser known waterfall in the Teluk Bahang area is Chin Farm Waterfall. A hike is required in order to get there but it’s well worth the trip. Over the years, Chin Farm Waterfall has seen a decrease in water due to development in the Batu Ferringhi and Tanjung Bungah area. Nevertheless, Chin Farm Waterfall offers visitors a great location to spend time in solitude as it’s not frequented as much compared to the other waterfalls around Penang.

9. Teluk Bahang Dam

Teluk Bahang Dam offers picturesque views and is an ideal location to stop by and enjoy the scenery. The dam is also a good spot to catch the sunset. So, if you happen to be driving by the area, be sure to grab a few shots before continuing on your journey.
