A global festival of sports for participants of eligible ages and all capabilities, Asia Pacific Masters Games is the first-ever masters multi-sport event in Asia. Guess what? They’re holding it in Penang this year for the very first time in history! This has got to be one of the most honored events in September Penang 2018. 9 days, 22 sports, it is open for every individual. APMG is more than just a sporting event. It will be an avenue to foster friendship, goodwill and a chance to propel the growth of masters sports, especially in the Asian region.

#2 (31 Aug-24 Sept) Flourishing Mid-autumn Carnival
Sunway Carnival Mall Penang is filled with Mid-Autumn vibe to celebrate the festival. Flourishing Mid-Autumn is a fun-filled carnival with tonnes of activities and deals. There’s a wide array of mooncakes for you to shop. Casahana (HYT), The Baker’s Cottage, Hae Way Tian (Oversea), and Hong Kong Bay are just a few to name. Bring your kids along as there’s a lantern making workshop. They get to learn what Mid-Autumn truly is, plus you get to bond with your family. In the evening, there’ll be a lantern parade happening on the 15 September so tag all your friends, head over to this carnival and relive your childhood.

#3 (Sept 8) “Take Flight”
Last year, Voices of Penang Philharmonic witnessed the rebirth of a dream. The public’s overwhelming responses and support had them in awe. This year, they’re back on stage with “Take Flight” after months of preparation. It’s a form of give back to the public so why don’t we support them? Bring your family and friends along to support and have a beautiful night.

#4 (9 Sept) Penang Piper’s Chapter 12th Anniversary
The annual Penang’s Piper Chapter is celebrating their 12th Anniversary this year. Meet pipers from different places and share some tips and tricks together. If you must know, it’s a pipe tobacco event. Try out latest pipe tobacco, get your hands on new stuff and enlighten yourself. You could even participate in the Piper’s Challenge. Plus, a special guest will be there to give a sharing session so stay tuned.

#6 (15&16 Sept) Comic Fiesta Mini 2018
Happening at Straits Quay, Comic Fiesta Mini started off as a small, intimate gathering. It is now one of the events in September Penang 2018 that’s gaining more attention. Comic Fiesta aims to bring Animation, Comics and Games-centric (ACG) enthusiasts together and build up a scene nationwide. During the two-day event, there’ll be Cosplay Competition, Pokémon Tournament, Creative Art Market and many more exciting performances. A cafe, La Petite Fox is also set up to quench your thirst and fill up your tummy in between.

#7 (16 Sept) I Love Malaysia Walk
Merdeka is certainly over, but don’t forget Malaysia Day falls on the 16th of September. Some may ask what is Malaysia Day when we already have Merdeka? It is to commemorate the establishment of the Malaysian federation, the joining together of Malaya, North Borneo and Sarawak to form Malaysia. So to celebrate this day, let’s do some fun, healthy activity together. Join I Love Malaysia Walk, a 5 km walk along the heritage site of Penang. Sweat out, have fun and learn some history and appreciate our culture.

#8 (24 Sept) Mid-Autumn Festival
One of the most meaningful events in September Penang 2018, Mid-Autumn Festival is widely celebrated by the Chinese. As kids where smartphones and data were non-existent, lanterns, mooncakes and friends were our thing. Adults would hold a mooncake party, the kids would show off and carry their lantern around and play fireworks together. Sadly, the good times are now replaced by gadgets. So why not relive the older days and tell the younger generation what Mid-Autumn Festival is truly about?
#9 (27-30 Sept) World Hoops 3×3 Tournament & Camp
Basketball fans where you at? World Hoops 3×3 is back again with more challenges. They’re partnering with FIBA 3X3 to bring you nerve-wrecking game. The last time they were in Penang was in April, time flies. Witness teams from across the globe go head-to-head, with fierce battles to gain the throne. The champion of the 2013 & 2016 FIBA 3×3 World Tour, Aleš Kunc, will also have an intensive basketball skills camp. World Hoops is regarded as one of the most significant events in September Penang 2018.
