1. Penang Durian Festival
If you missed out on the durian season, don’t worry because the durian festival will be on until the end of July. So if you’ve not had your durian fix, head on over to one of the nearest durian stalls that is located almost all over the George Town area or you can travel to Balik Pulau with your friends and family for a durian party.
Date: 1 June 2019 – 31 July 2019

2. George Town Heritage Celebrations
This festival is to celebrate the different cultures that can be found in Penang in conjunction with Georgetown World Heritage City Day which is 7 July 2019. This year marks the 11th anniversary of George Town’s inscription as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The theme for this year’s celebration is ‘Let’s Celebrate – Rituals and Festive Events’ and aims to educate the younger generation about the history, culture, and tradition of the different races and religions.
There will be seven different excursion site for everyone to experience. If you’re interested in any of the seven events, you can reserve your spot here but be quick because there are only limited spots.

3. George Town Festival
This year will be the tenth edition of George Town Festival. With this festival, everyone will be able to experience art in an entirely new way. George Town Festival aims to make art accessible to everyone of all ages and backgrounds. The highlighted events for this festival are When Night Falls, Art In The City and the grand finale for this festival would be The Extravaganza.

4. Penang Hill Festival
Penang Hill Festival has returned and there will be a long list of exciting and fun activities for you to participate. The aim of this festival is to celebrate history, culture, and nature. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to walk through a rainforest that dates back to 130 million years ago. There will be different activities such as photo exhibition, photo competition, special nature walks, and many more.

5. Penang Bon Odori Festival
This festival is celebrated every year to honor the spirit of the ancestors who return once a year for a visit to their families. The tradition originates from Buddhism in China. During this festival, there will be a live drum performance to welcome the spirits and different stalls. You will be able to get Japanese food and souvenirs. Don’t miss out on the fireworks display as well!

6. Bagan Festival @ Butterworth Art Walk – Heritage Celebration
To celebrate the heritage of Penang’s mainland, Lorong Bagan will be closed to all vehicles for a car-free evening. So bring your friends and family along for an evening walk while enjoying the different kinds of artwork.

Time: 4 pm – 11 pm

7. Penang Run 2019
The aim of this event is to promote a healthy lifestyle and unity between the different cultures. There are six different events altogether in this run and people of all ages are able to participate. To encourage more senior citizen to participate, there will be a 50% discount for people who are 70-year-old and above. Penang Run is limited to 4000 participants only so if you’re interested, book your spot as soon as possible!

8. Taiwan Expo 2019
Here’s your chance to experience Taiwan if you’ve never been without causing a dent in your bank account. This exhibition is organized by the Bureau of Foreign Trade and Taiwan External Trade Development Council to strengthen the relationship between Taiwan and other Asia countries.

9. Switch World 2019: Penang
The largest Apple roadshow in Malaysia is returning and you don’t want to miss it. There will be a wide range of gadgets and accessories that you will be able to experience. The participating brands are Apple, Beats, JBL, Otterbox, Sony, Sudio, Spigen, and many more.

10. HIKE at YOUTH PARK 2019
If you love hiking, this event is definitely for you. This event is organized by MBPP and Penang Adventurers’ Club. It’s open to the public to participate and participants will receive a goodie bag, a T-shirt, an E-certificate and a chance to win in a lucky draw. Refreshments will be provided as well after the hike.
