Once a shared space in Awesome Canteen, Ome has finally moved out to establish its own cafe out of passion. “Ome” literally means home without the “H.” Still serving the good old specialty coffee sourcing beans from all around the world, with a few artisan roastery to choose from.

Apart from coffee, Ome has now introduced in-house bakes and fine teas. Those who are keen and passionate about learning coffee, the owner duo offers barista apprenticeship programme. The nostalgic vibe in Ome reminisces the heritage of Penang, where elements of old shophouses remain.

Kopikita is a coffee shop nestled in a postcard shop that sells only coffee and other simple beverages. On the outside the shop looks old and a bit rundown, but don’t be intimidated by it. Their coffee menu might be simple but they sell really good coffees. Rich, smooth and aromatic in one cup, it’s the perfect place for coffee takeaway. It’s considered a hidden gem because not many would notice Kopikita. This is definitely one of the cafes in Penang you should know.

Serving one of the best homemade cakes in Penang, Moody Cow is definitely cakes lover’s heaven. They have a few exotic flavors that are talk of the town. Musang King durian cheesecake, chempedak cheesecake, salted egg cheesecake and more. Inside of Moody Cow is very nostalgia, with dim lighting, antique furniture and dark walls. The price of the cake might be a bomb, but a slice of cake for sharing of two is more than enough. That’s because they come in a big piece and is super filling.
