#1 Urban Daybreak

Need we say more about this breakfast spot in Penang? An all-time favourite of ours, we have featured Urban Daybreak multiple times on our feed. We might be biased, but they serve one of the best fried chicken waffle and pancakes on the island. Want something lighter? They have an extensive all-day brunch menu that goes from big breakfast to eggs, sandwiches and smoothie bowls.

#2 Le Cafe

A few steps down Hin Bus Depot is where you’ll find Le Cafe. A quaint corner that serves mainly sandwiches and coffee, with bakes occasionally. If you love sandwiches, we swear by this place. They have quite an interesting selection, from pork to beef and unagi. Made fresh upon order, it happens to be editor’s favourite spot for sandwiches as well.

By now most Penangites might have heard of WHEELER’S. Strategically located at Love Lane, not only do they have a wide selection of mains, but an all-day breakfast menu as well. If you’re someone who needs a good cup of coffee to function in the morning, get your hands on a cuppa at WHEELER’S.

Tucked in a clubhouse, Kafka ticks off every element that defines a good cafe. From ambiance to food and coffee, they’re generally above average. Not to mention they serve an awesome breakfast menu, especially their eggs benedict. If you’re around Kelawai area, Kafka is yet another great breakfast spot in Penang.

If you’re wandering around looking for a breakfast spot in Penang that is not too flashy yet cozy, look no further than Secawan ‘n’ Such. Known for serving great coffee and breakfast platter, price is a tad high but the portion is very forgiving.

#7 Baa Baa Black Sheep

Baa Baa Black Sheep feels like your cafe next door, with a cozy, homey vibe. It might look small on the outside, but you’ll be surprised that they offer quite a bit of things on their menu. It’s a great pit stop before driving up to Batu Ferringhi. Side note: Not breakfast-related but try out their affogato!

#8 Ferringhi Coffee Garden

An upscale restaurant during the night, and a cafe during the day, Ferringhi Garden is located all the way at Batu Ferringhi. Dine al fresco in a lush garden and treat yourself to a cup of coffee and Eggs Benedict. Price is definitely on the higher side but the ambiance at Ferringhi Coffee Garden makes up to it.

#9 Sin Seh Kai Artisan Bakery

Sin Sek Kai translates to “New World” in Hokkien, which also depicts the location of the cafe. A fairly new breakfast spot in Penang, they serve a plethora of baked goods (because, bakery) and coffee. Their breakfast menu is a fusion of American and local breakfast like croissants, toasts and eggs, definitely worth trying out.

#10 Mews Cafe

Unlike most of the breakfast spot in Penang that serves American/Western breakfast, Mews Cafe brings out local dishes in a laid back ambiance. While prices are on the higher side with a tight menu, every item on the menu are well praised by netizens. It is also worth mentioning that Mews is a pet-friendly cafe.
