Hello, friends! If you are planning for a road trip down to Ipoh, we have something super cool that you will need to check out at Kong Heng Square. There are already many fun things that you can do in Kong Heng Square, such as trying out the Instagram-worthy Rainbow Toast that has been the talk of the Internet, or simply having lunch at Restoran Ipoh Kong Heng, one of the oldest coffee shops in Ipoh. Now, You Need To Check Out These Bank Vaults Houses Thousands Of Discounted Books In Ipoh!
Did we say discounted books?
Whenever someone says discounted books, there is going to be one name that is going to pop up in your mind. Nothing, yet? Well, let us give you a hint. They have recently opened one of the biggest bookstores with the tallest bookshelves at Gurney Paragon Mall. That’s right, we are talking about BookXcess, and this is their second store located out of Klang Valley.
It’s a brand new Instagram Wonderland
Believe it or not, BookXcess in Ipoh is way more Instagram-worthy as compared to the one we have on the island with neon signs and tongue in cheek quotes. You will also be happy to know that they have preserved the buildings original architecture, so you’ll still have the Ipoh vibes if you want to take a snap for the ‘gram with the exterior!
Well, you cannot leave without snapping photos on the basement floor. You will find a total of five different bank vaults for you to explore! It is going to be a special experience, as stepping into bank vaults is a rare opportunity. You will love the fact that pristine bank deposit boxes have been converted into bookshelves! There might be hidden gems inside! Kidding, don’t try to open them.
You can also go through Yasmin Ahmad’s original Mac desktop here!
Opening bank deposit boxes is a joke. This isn’t! As Malaysians, we all know and love Yasmin Ahmad so much. One of the bank vaults is actually Yasmin at Kong Heng newseum. That’s not a spelling error. You can get comfortable on bean bags and watch her memorable Petronas festive televisions advertisements and films. Best of all, you can go through her original desktop to check out her original scripts for Sepet, and more.
So, is it worth a road trip from Penang?
The answer is a solid yes! Sure, we have a BookXcess in Penang and it is honestly one of the best things ever that happened to us ’cause we get discounted books all year long. If you have been to different BookXcess, you know that they are somehow different from one to another. It’s true! We are not hallucinating, okay. This brand new bookstore has a very strong character, maybe ’cause they have preserved its architecture?
You have to go to find out!
If you are looking for that extra push, you will be super happy to know that BookXcess Kong Heng will be giving you an additional 20% discount on all books and non-book items from 11th to 14th April 2019. Yes, that’s just over the weekend! Time to pack for the road trip. If you are reading this from Ipoh, you know what’s on your itinerary for the weekends. Hehe!
