When it comes to Penang, we know that Nasi Kandar will be one of the most “must-eat in Penang” for you guys. And we want to help you out so that there’ll be more places that you can go. 1- Abu Mamak

Late night craving? Or maybe just wanna go lepak somewhere with friends? Yes, Abu Mamak is the answer. Their Mee Goreng is to die for with Milo Dinosaur on the side. You also can choose from their selection of roti that comes in many names from Roti Hong Kong to Roti England and not to forget their Roti Tisu!

2- Nasi Kandar Shariff

Just so you know that most of Mamak Place that you go for a plate of Nasi Kandar will surely have a long queue. But it is totally worth every minutes of queueing! Some tips from us that the queue is as early as 5.15pm…so better early up to avoid the disappointment of facing empty platters.

3- Cargas Cafe

Next on our list is this little gem in Bayan Lepas that one cannot missed out upon visiting Penang. The freshly hot deep-fried chicken is the most popular pick among the regulars and we are sure that it will be your next favourite too! Heads up, that the place is totally pack-full-house during the lunch hour.

4- Nasi Kandar Deen Jelutong

A plate of Nasi Kandar a day, keeps the craving away. That is how the saying should goes actually because it makes more sense…for us Nasi Kandar enthusiasts. Must we say that this platter is superb ? From their fried chicken to the selections of curries that is up to perfection…just don’t miss this one out.

5- Nasi Kandar Deen Maju

Moving on to our next Mamak Place which popular with their Nasi Kandar scene as well is Deen Maju. But just so you know that these both Deens are not affiliated with each other though the name is almost similar. Even so, the taste of whatever combination you pick for your plate will not just blow your mind but also explode your mouth!

6- Nasi Kandar Merlin

We all know that a slap of Nasi Kandar is also a slap of calories. But worry not my fellow foodies, what is calories when you are able to have an experience of mouthgasm that surely is worth every pound you might gained ? Also make sure you make your plate ‘kuah banjir’  because the messier the better.

7- Nasi Kandar Imigresen

Once located near the Penang Immigration building (hence the name), now they have moved to Cafe Asia and stick with the name until today. For every plate that they served, surely topped with their signature deep fried shallots that brings out more of aromatic scent.

8- Nasi Kandar Tajuddin Husein

Their curries are insanely superb from the chicken to the squid and of course the super tender mutton. Here at Tajuddin Husein they have three choices of rice; White, Tomato and Biryani. Mind those greasy oily calories in their dishes away because believe us, you just can’t resist it.

Start your day with a hearty breakfast of Nasi Kandar…yes you heard it right. We are not kidding around as this place opens as early as 6.30am. But if this is too heavy for you they do serve Roti Canai as well so don’t worry.

  1. All above spots are pretty awesome and definitely among the best Nasi Kandars in island except for no#7. Nasi Kandar Imigresen glory days long gone, now they serving bad food, i mean real bad.
