Hello, Penang Lang! We’re back with some exciting news that is going to happen in less than a month. Remember the annual Penang Hot Air Balloon Fiesta? Yes, we’re talking about the event that makes our Padang Polo vividly coloured and packed with crowds. This time they’re coming back with more fun events starting from as early as 7AM, so keep scrolling to see what kind of fun activities are waiting for you.
Things To Do When You’re Here
This colourful festival is happening as early as 7AM, but many people arrive before this time just to catch the glorious sunrise. And if you’re lucky, you’ll also be able to spot balloonists firing up hot air balloons to get ready for the day.
If you’re not a fan of heights, then there’s another thing you can try. This year, there’s a ‘cold inflation’ activity where you can walk into a hot air balloon envelope that’s filled with cool air. As the air blows in, the balloon gets rounder and it’ll look like you’re trapped in a little wonderland of your own!
Other than the one of a kind hot air balloon experience, there’ll be food stalls selling snacks and street foods for the whole day too. So hungry foodies, no need to worry about no food. Just worry about what to eat!
After grabbing your breakfast, lunch or dinner, it’s time to spend some energy. From thrilling activities like bouncy trampolines, challenging bull rides to the petting zoo, it’s going to be a fulfilling day to spend with your friends and family. Not to mention, there are also workshops like craft painting with LED lights and DIY hot air balloon batik to serve all the creative peeps out there.
As the sun sets, the sky starts to dim down and the night is still young. ‘Night Glow Show’ will start as 10 hot air balloons glows up in the night sky together with amazing music. Prepared by international balloonists, there’ll be some special shaped balloons. P.S. there’ll be firework displays too.
Aside from the main event, stay tuned to their Pop-Up Hot Air Balloon at various locations in Bayan Lepas, Paya Terubong, Butterworth and Bukit Mertajam on the 31st of January! And don’t miss an Instagrammable photo at The Path Sia Boey and Butterworth Art Walk where mini papercraft hot air balloons light up like a sky of floating lanterns.
So When Is It?
Isn’t that the most important question of all? Well, it’s time to jot down the date for this exciting event. For this year’s Penang Hot Air Balloon Fiesta, it’ll be an ongoing event from February 1st to 2nd. Before you go search into your calendar, these 2 days will be landing on a Saturday and Sunday. So no more excuses for not going!
