#1 Burger Ayam Goreng Njoy
Typical roadside burger stalls would often use Ramly patties, self-made patties or even the real deal. This is not the case for Njoy, they use neither any of those mentioned. Breaded crispy fried chicken sandwiched between colored buns and finishes off with a pool of homemade gravy, so good ! Yes their multi-colored buns such as pink, green, blue, yellow and black used to be a hype and still is. The fried chicken patty is so juicy and crispy, paired with their special gravy that tastes just like KFC mashed potato’s gravy. This is no doubt one of the best burgers in Penang, but the trip might be a little far.

We don’t need further explanation of this once burger stall turned burger shop, their ooey gooey melting cheese burger photos says it all. Rockstarz was forced to close down due to a fire previously and has recently reinstalled, opened back its doors to public. Their famous cheese burgers are drown with cheese sauce, dripping down the burger. It’s meant to get dirty so why not just use hands, the authentic way of eating burgers. This is one of the most popular burgers in Penang among the locals.

#3 Pos Burger
Ever had burgers with potatoes inside? If no, you have to head over to Pos Burger now. Located just right across the Jelutong Post Office at the corner of the junction, they’ve been loved for years. Pos Burger has a wide variety of burgers and hotdogs to choose from, from chicken to fish, lamb and even beef. Their burgers are little wet due to the thick margarine on bread and the gravy. Soft when bite, juicy and flavorful in the mouth. You might have to queue as most of the time they’re quite crowded, and their operating hours are not fixed.

#4 Street Grill Burger Bakar
The video that went crazy viral on our Facebook page, Street Grill Burger Bakar is now well-known to not only locals but people from other states as well. When they first started their business, the queue was about two hours long and we heard it’s still crowded till today. Stand in front of the stall to watch how they do their burgers. Juicy, succulent chicken thighs are marinated and grilled to perfection. Then, this is where the magic happens. Add RM2 to see them melt and pour a bed of cheese over your burger, so satisfying. This is by far the most hyped burgers in Penang.

Man has been the local’s favourite over the years and is deemed to taste better than McD’s. Is it true? You’ll have to find out yourself. Their burgers might look simple but there’s just something special about them. Do try out their beef burgers, they’re raved by many.

Known as one of the best burgers in Penang, Charlie’s Burger is located at Batu Ferringhi. Uncle Charlie has been cooking burgers for over 30 years so what do you think? His burgers are reasonably priced, fill your tummy with just less than RM10 with a lot added toppings. Uncle Charlie is very friendly and attentive that he would talk to you while he grills your burger.

Selling for over 20 years, Hillside Uncle’s Burger is run by a Chinese old couple. No offense but it’s rare to see roadside burgers run by Chinese. If you don’t know what Hillside burger is, you might have seen photos of a huge pile of onions together with burger. Yes uncle is famous for their burgers with onions, LOTS OF THEM. Crunchy, sweet onions pan-fried to golden brown put on top of your favoruite Ramly burger. Customers often ask for extra onions. If you love onions just like them, don’t miss out. Operating hours are not fixed though (They old liao please forgive them).

With just a few years of establishment, Spade’s Burger already has seven outlets in different locations. This proves that their burger is no joke, and it really is. Using charcoal black bun, their menu features a wide range of burgers with different patties to choose from. Pair with unique combination such as hash brown with bacon and egg, mushroom with cheese. They also have burgers for the champions, with extra huge portion. Add a few ringgit and you can enjoy a set. The price is up there but the portion is so satisfying and filling, definitely one of the best atas burgers in Penang.

#2 Two Buns
Yes this is definitely one of editor’s favourite burgers in Penang ! Not only the burgers are good here, the ambiance and vibes are a plus point too. Simple yet a little rustic with white walls, Two Buns is best tagged along with a friend. Classic sesame bun pressed between patty of your favourite either fried chicken, caramalised pork, pulled pork and more. Don’t forget to make it a set, their fries are as good. Besides that, they also serve really good milkshakes and beers, including local beers with a twist. This is a truly hipster place with good food, good vibes.

#3 Junk Cafe
Located at the center of Georgetown, Junk Cafe is a hidden gem not known by the locals but flocked with tourists instead. Don’t let them set you back, this place serves pretty good burgers at an acceptable cafe price. Just like the name suggests, the owner gathers and decorates the cafe with “junks.” By night, Junk Cafe is super happening, loud jams, tourists, beers and alcohol, good food. Their burger patties and sauces are all self-made, the burger is a little wet due to the sauces. Juicy, scrumptious burger in one bite, your hands will get dirty for sure. Don’t forget about their fries as well, a big thumbs up !
