Good day Penangites! Today is the 8th of May and it also means that Penang will be going into the 2nd phase of the Penang Gradual Recovery Strategy (PGRS), known as the Familiarisation Phase. The 2nd phase will foresee several economic sectors to reopen including shopping malls in Penang. Simply put, as some of us are anticipating for this news, shopping malls in Penang are reopening today!
Shopping Malls In Penang Are Now Open To All Shoppers
Shopping malls must adhere to SOP such as preparing sanitizers, putting up notices of social distancing. Of course, the malls were all given time to prepare themselves for this day. All shopping malls are only allowed to operate from 10 AM-10 PM.
Aside from shopping malls, other sectors that will begin operating today include transportation (land and air), food industry (only for takeaways), and many more. Although shopping malls are now to reopen to the public, shoppers must still take precautionary measures while shopping. It’s good to maintain social distancing from other shoppers, and to sanitise your hands frequently.
One particular mall in Penang, Gurney Paragon Mall has been preparing to reopen its doors. Floors and lifts were marked with tapes and door handles were wiped clean.
