Penang lang, we’ve got good news! For those who travel across the bridge every day either for work or study, it’s now going to be cheaper. Setting records for the longest bridge in Southeast Asia, Sultan Abd Halim Muadzam Shah Bridge will be serving Penangites and tourists better. From January 1st onwards, Sultan Abd Halim Muadzam Shah aka Penang Second Bridge will reduce its toll price from RM8.50 to RM7!
Second Penang Bridge Toll Drops To RM7
We’re not encouraging you to stay up late just to cross the bridge, but this reduction is starting sharp at 12AM onwards. You might be thinking RM1.50 is not a big reduction. But we did the maths for those who have to cross between the mainland and the island every day. You’ll save RM30 every month!
This new change will be applied to all Class 1 vehicles to ease the 1 to 2 hours of traffic jams that we have at our First Penang Bridge. So that means it’s applied to all motorists and vehicles with 2 axles and 3 or 4 wheels (excluding taxis)!
Aside from that, have you ever wondered why the route in Penang Second Bridge is curvier than normal bridges? That’s because this design actually prevents drivers from getting drowsy and slows down speeding. Ticking the boxes for safety and price, it’s a good deal for all drivers who have to travel across the bridge.
As more projects and improvements are being made on our beautiful island of Penang. What do you think about the future development of Penang? Let us know in the comment section below and see you in the next post.
